Stayed 1 night here when we visited Nottingham for a concert. Good location, nice room and excellent breakfast. Didnt have a drink as they didnt serve Guinness, only a couple of real ales and Spanish lager.

We are now re-opened under new management.
Refurbished and renovated.

Closed, now a Starbucks. No great loss.

Bog standard pub. Did have London Pride on my last visit. Popular with travellers waiting for trains but also some of the unwanted sort as well. Does get full of football fans on matchdays.

A very basic hotel which advertises bed and breakfast but provides no breakfast, a fact I was not informed about until I asked what time breakfast started, too late then!
There were 3 beds in my room, making it very cramped, no wonder there was little other furniture. The shared bathroom was clean but scuffy.
A deposit was required for the key but when I tried to return the key and redeem my 10 deposit there was no one on duty. I had to wait almost three hours, until 10.30am for a member of staff. By which time I had gotten hungry and had to find somewhere to eat, I requested a refund for my meal but was refused.
I did not use the bar as I was told that they would probably close about 9 or 10pm as it wasn't very busy.
I would advise anyone to stay clear of this establishment.

With it's location right next to the Railway Station this place should be a goldmine but instead its a hole! No real ale crap service and don't think its been cleaned since the age of steam.
|
A bit grim admittedly, but we stayed here on my stag do and the landlord was kind enough to open the bar for as at 8am. So that gets it a couple of bonus points
|
Only one handpump with nothin on,so opted for a pint of 2.90 mediocre Guinness that I nearly spilled by sitting on the novelty collapsable furniture, ok sorry maybe just tired furniture... a lovely ceiling though to be admired but sadly this doesn't get its mark any higher than a quite generous 4/10
|
Only been in there once, and got ignored, so never been in again.
|
I love this palce purely for its seediness. A welcome change if heading back to the station after being forced at gun-point to the lace market bars.
|
A bit of a dump, but in a way that's part of its charm.
|
Suprpisingly likeable place
|
Whenever I go in there someone alway tries to sell me a watch or jewelry. Friendly enough, just has that feeling of a pub close to a station.
|
Opposite the train station. You can't get much better a start when arriving to a city. No refurbishment could be spotted. Great sign! Looking at the people in there, it does't look like that is a priority. Too much hard work. I hope it remains.

This pub is full of characters, last time i was in there was a massive 19 stone geordie and a bloke with a brown tail who kept parping every two minutes. They were with this 6'4" hooligan with short red hair and a goatie....
quality boozer.

Stopped in after a mind numbing train journey from Manchester, decided immediately that lager would be the safest bet...wrong...it tasted soapy and the glass was manky...what a place though...the league of gentlemen has nothing on it, kids in pushchairs squawking, Chavs and Chavettes shouting to each other and generally acting like the social underclass that they represent. Other than that, served by a pretty Senorita so it wasnt all bad...Only 99 % of it.

Flippin eck it's not a pub it's a lunatic asylum. Burn it down now!!!!!!!!!
|
If freak shows are your thing then get to the Bentinck. This place is pure comedy. However if you pop in around 5:15 you might be able to catch two suited and booted fit fellas drinking in there.
|
I frequently visit the Bentinck purely for entertainment value, convenience and of course the pre-train comfort drinks. There is an incident every visit. Little Britain sketch waiting to happen. How do they afford to sit in there day after day?? Isn't the little cheerful barman under 18?? God bless the bentinck for being there!

Many an exciting post work beer has been consumed at this ever so friendly public house. Ignore the rambling drunks in the corner or the immigrant barmen and you'll find a decent pint of strongbow. Why not take the wife? She may get propositioned as rumour has it ladies of the night frequent the establishment but hey, take it as a compliment! 10 out of 10 for me!
|
Steer clear. The staff in this place are rude, ignorant and sullen. On my recent overnight stay I immediately regretted booking to stay. There's a nice little scam going whereby they take a key deposit from you when you check in but there's no-one around to return your key deposit when you check out. Bad beer, bad service, a bad experience. Avoid.

Don't let the broken down hell hole outward appearance put you off, this pub really is grim. The carpets are oily and the seats are mainly broken. However, I highly recommend it as it's always full of "characters".Only ugly females/slags should visit, normal women will be harassed.

A great pick up place!

For a pub that caters largely for transient railway trade, the Bentinck Hotel has a surprising character and warmth. Sitting in this boozer you get the feeling that it hasn't changed in perhaps 50 years, and why should it? It's cosy and friendly, and while it isn't as bright and full-featured as so many of the more monied bars in the centre of town, it is a highly recommended first stop.
