now a Goddards pie&mash shop

what a shame they closed this pub down .a handy little watering hole that once was
was a gay bar for a while, now in another incarnation which will probably last all of six months
This was a fairly average, but acceptable boozer with three cask ales ales offered in decent condition, including Brains Bitter. Gentle buzz of comfortable conversation. Sad to hear it has closed.
Yes, apparently Greenwich Inc has bought it. They are also rumoured to be after the Cutty Sark. Time to call in the monopolies comission or something

This used to be a good basic pub, with great music on a Sunday night ( Skazz, Special Delivery) but it's closed. Rumour has it that Greenwich Inc have bought it- so yet another place ruined
I tried to go here about three Saturday's back and found the place closed at 4pm on a Saturday. It'd be a right shame if this place is totally gone...
used to be the best sunday night haunt in london. oh dear what went wrong! bring back brains on tap and joe and his jazz/skazz supremeos and i may once again waste away the lonley sunday hours playing checkers with oldmen and young women alike. R.I.P THE CRICKETERS.

Something is very wrong here. I don't know who's bought the place, but I went in and there was no bitter - that's like Goddard's having no pies! Now Skazz aren't playing anymore as well. Everything points to this pub being broken.

Was terribly disappointed at this pub. Pint of Flowers Original smelt and tasted of vinegar. Did not like the feel of the place at all.
I've been going to this pub with my family since i was about 4 and there has always been service with a smile. This pub has real character. The food is great, and i have it on good authority that they serve a mean pint of guinness.
best pub in greenwich for a sunday night give me skazz and a pint of brains over a stella and a punch up at wetherspoons anyday!!!!
Love this pub! Paula's always up for a giggle. Wicked atmosphere.
God it's great. Harvey's, homegrown pork scratchings, it's like training to be old. There's a rumour that Greenwich Inc have bought the place though, so it'll be very different very soon I suppose.

the pub seemed nice at first but i feel the need to complain about how i viewed the staf being treated by the landlord, he spoke very rudely to one girl in particular and it no longer made me or my familiy feel as if we wanted to stay.

Excellent pub with real traditional english folk musicians, fantastic landlord, excellent staff & good beer at very reasonable prices.
Andrew summed it up - a perfect place to pop in and enjoy the nice, relaxed vibe for a pint!

We got there at 8.30 and it was the most impossibly chill out scene you could imagine in an English pub. Young and old alike were sitting around, chatting and playing chess, backgammon or, in our case, Connect-4. Had a few pints of the guest ale, which was jolly nice and the pub is right on the right side of snug.
We went to see the folk group play and they gathered in one corner and started playing about 9.30. The pub got crowded but everyone was friendly and free cheese and biccies came out on to the bar. Not seen that in many a year.
Good night, will be back.

A good mid-crawl shelter.
