An absolute shocker - a wannabe wetherspoons

Can't really disagree with any of the other comments below. Unattractive and uninspiring - just like the beer

The bar staff seem friendly enough if a little un-motivated but then i would be unmotivated if i was serving aggressive chavs for a living.
It's ok in the afternoon because there's no-one there but once school turns out i would avoid if i were you!

Just the look of the place puts you off, glad its not my local. Says it all that the flyingarse is.
|
Pah! It's hardly the Toby is it?
All rather too plain for me and have been put off going in whilst passing due to the chavs or braying fans of a certain west london premiership football club which make the place rather intimidating.
As it is the only pub in unlovely and unloved Tolworth I use this pub only in emergencies.

went there for a pimms the other day and the staff were excellent. few extra shots of pimms always goes down nicely. friendly staff that always recognise the face. seems to be improving.
|
I think pub gain loads of progress since new owner came on board, good food f.e. home-made curries, ice cream or favorite fish & chips. Great selection of beer, ales, ciders and shots at affordable prices. Winelist available, even offer buy 2 glasses and get rest of the bottle for free.Friendly staff nowadays :-)

Food is good, drink is a bit expense. This place is great when the football is on.
|
2.80 for a orange juice.
I thought they were joking.

food getting better which is good some well nice curries! understand its under new management but they have to decide whether its a bar or club. They way to often get confused. went there the other night for a drink and the music was blaring sounded RUBBISH. awful. it was obvious people were in there for a drink not for a clubbing experience. Dress code shocking - well done for allowing trainers but people were wearing tracksuits, caps etc which kinda brought the place down a bit. bar staff need to learn to say "hello can I help you" or "thank you" every so often. when they come pick up your plates why dont they say "i hope you enjoyed your food"? very very simple manners.

well what can i say, don't mind waiting for food because it was always good. every one i have seen in the bar have always had a good time. but i made the mistake of going there for lunch, the bar was as good as always the only problem was the customers the ones that think there some kind of high flyers. it was quite a shock i have never seen so many pro windgers in my life but hats off to the manager and staff. please send a memo to the tolworth tower informing them that their not in the city.

Totally agree with last two comments. Last time I was in there I had to ask for some chips to go with the Vinegar that they call Beer!! (Marstons)

Was there for a drink on Fri to kill an hour for a drink with the Mrs. What a hole!! Toilets dire, atmosphere horrible and music blaring from all angles! Not sure on daytime comments but even if the beer was free I wouldn't go back!!

I agree with Anonymous. Unfortunatley I work in Tolworth and don't have another choice of Pub at lunchtimes. Will have to amend my New Year's resolution to not going for a drink at Lunchtime!
|
Surly (if they dont know you)staff, music too loud and never any bitter on. The absolute pits.

Anyone who know's Tolworth should know what to expect from any pub there. Anyone who doesn't should avoid Tolworth anyway. The entire town/wart-on-the-A3 is a joke and the Broadway Bar is a sorry punchline . . .

Good quiz on Sunday nights, otherwise it's crap but nice inside.
|
Work nearby and now only very ocassionally go here for lunch - I now find the 'Sunshine cafe' across the road gives better service, better food which is served alot quicker by pleasanter people who know and care about what they are doing - sums this place up doesn't it - total pits!!!
The Youngs in here was awful(almost certainly due to the way it's kept) - in fact they were serving it out the pump which had a 'Marstons Pedigree' sign on it - total bunch of amateurs - I must have a word with the marketing director of Youngs Brewery when I next see him!!
|
Not the best bar, it's been through a bit of a tough time, looks like it's getting better though.
|
Went in there again last night for the first time since being ignored(see previous comment) and things just have not changed...three people who the staff knew had arrived at the bar after me were served as I waited..NEVER AGAIN.
Earlham Court

Buy a jug of 4 pints of lager and pay for three...OK until you want a refill...I waited at the bar for 10 minutes whilst the two girls behind the bar served at least 8 people who arrived at the bar after me...complained to the manager who seemed to be amused.. Music far too loud and too many smokers in the Non-smoking area..perhaps the sign should be better situated....

This place was fine when it first opened, they couldn't do enough to assist, but now the novelty has gone & certain barstaff should moderate their language!
|

Best pub in Tolworth by a mile.
Now that Toby Jug is gone there are not many pubs around. This is a nice new clean pub. It attracts both young and old.
Quite loud and very busy on Friday and Saturday. Ideal place to meet your mates if you want a bit of atmosphere. Bouncer request shoes Fri/Sat nights ! Avoid if you want a quite drink, try the Red lion instead.

What can i say about this place
Bouncers, themselves good, that they are needed is bad.
Posh Decor, obviously fancies itself as a bit of an upmarket place but winds up looking like a Yates.
Dance floor, largely unused
bar, its not easy to get served but the barstaff tend to make up for it.
Food, overpriced (well almost all pubs overcharge for foor now)
Toilets, feels like your lost in the hampton court maze trying to get to them!
leads me to lay out, poor for seating. most wind up standing. Also later in the evenings the sound goes up and you still can't hear over the sound of other peoples voices.
Beer, actualy good selection, 3 hand pumps (ales), plus the usual selection of gas drafts and bottles.
Overall, Just another overpriced mind numbingly OK pub lunch eatery! But as the only show in town and a chav free zone (thansk to the bouncers), can't complain too loudly.
If the management read this, try harder to make a drinking there a pleasent experiance, try less to pack them in.
