Generally well priced for a pub in the area. Good selection of cask beer well kept. On the negative slightly short measures and premium pricing for halves e.g. pt £3.34 half£3.50.

I think they've struck a balance quite well: it has managed to shake off the worst of the traditional pub types (bar hogging bores) without becoming too self-consciously wine bar-ish.
Worked for me.

It was raining so I rushed in here. I'd been told it was now a "music pub" and that would have put me off, but when I the strains of "The Soft Parade" by The Doors came on the jukebox I knew it would be OK.
There's a good selection of ales to suit all tastes and I was impressed with the food, service and overall value especially when you consider that it's a city centre pub.

I don't normally like 'refurbs', but to be fair to this pub, it has been done tastefully enough. It no longer looks like an old pub, but on the other side, it is 'trendy' without being like a wine bar. Always has a good atmosphere, whilst the beer is good, with quite a few ales to choose from, including a well kept Kelham Island 'Pride of Sheffield' Bitter on my visit yesterday. Get in there and buy that beer.

This pub has always been popular since I've known about it but I've never been able to work out why.
I think it's because the jukebox is mainly indie so it appeals to indie kids and musos but I don't think a good jukebox alone makes a good pub.
My main problem with it is that it's very open on a main road, so you get a lot of drunken idiots finding it and filling it and it isn't that big.
It's not a bad pub really, it's good for people watching because the street outside has a steady flow of people and the whole front is window. Nothing special in my opinion, I wouldn't choose to go there, there are better bars in the area.

Understand this pub has changed considerably since it was a GBG regular, but seeing as I never visited in this time I can take it as face value. Situated on trendy Division Street, it's very much a night-time circuit joint that is more of a bar than a pub, with dark lighting, couches, split levels and the rest. It was heaving on my visit and loud music was playing. Black Sheep Bitter was the only beer available and to be fair it was pretty good, but it took ages to get served. I imagine a daytime visit may be different but I won't be going out of my way to visit here- it's not bad for the type of place it is, but it's just not my type of place.

A few years ago this place was a must visit when in Sheffield when I used to visit the Probation office across the road (only for work purposes I hasten to add). Sadly this is no longer true anymore.Only one cask ale on when I called, they used to have at least 4. The refubishment has totally changed the character of the pub. OK it needed a spruce up, but it's just not the same. Shame.

The refurbishment has led to a definite improvement in my view. Tribute was in good nick (if served with a rather large head by the barmaid) and toning down the live music during the week is a good idea. Definitely worth a pop on division st.

Has indeed been refurbed.

Not sure what is going on here. It has been completely gutted - judging by the time of here it is probably a refurb for when the students come back, although not sure.

Scruffy down market rock/student pub with no cask ales available on my visit. Keg lagers rule here. Has live bands.
|
Decent boozer, usually good selection of lagers and ales. Not the place to go for conversation however - the live music, in such a small place, can put paid to that. Reasonably priced food too.
|
Studenty pub, with reasonable live music and OK selection of beer, but not a patch on its heyday ten or fifteen years ago. Nothing too wrong, but nothing out of the ordinary, either.
|
Pleasant pub with a nice selection of beers and reasonable live music, although a little on the pricey side.
|
Gone badly downhill it would seem, transformed into a student pub. All of the cask ales bar 1 have gone (Ruddles County), and as previously mentioned, the Roger and Out is no longer brewed. Very disappointing.
|
I only went to this pub for the Rodger and Out and was disappointed to find out that they don't make it anymore. The drinks were way too pricey and the atmosphere was uncomfortable to say the least. Better off going to Devonshire Cat!

Perfectly good lively pub with character, decentish beer and cheap food.

Came upon the place by happy accident. Good choice of 4/5 proper beers, much more my cup of tea than sterile trendy bars in the area. Live band midweek were loud and ended with punk/thrash version of Wired for Sound. Pogoing to Cliff, bizarre but fascinating. Well worth a visit.

Let's face it. A local legend.
|
Its gone down hill since I last visited Sheffield (admitedly sometime ago). Too much doot de dooh music for my liking. When I visited on the good Friday night, things seemed to be OK (just OK). Whence I returned on the Saturday night however, I was amazed at the transformation into a third rate disco (should of seen "the thing" that was disc jockeying!).
Fantastically kept ales however, despite the fact that mosdt people were drinking oddly coloured beverages or syntho-lager. I prefered the Devonshire Cat otr the Rutland arms.

This pub can be found in the inlay of the Arctic Monkey's Album cover!! *sad geeky spot!* - know!!
|
A proper pub on Division Street, competing with the chain bars of West Street and the more trendy establishments along the rest of Division Street. Thechoice of beer here seems to have deteriorated recently, I think Greene King now own the pub and there's been a lot less varied guests lately. The beer is not exactly cheap (2.20 - 2.40 a pint)but is of higher quality than most which is found in the area (save the Dev Cat a couple of minutes walk away)It has regular live music which adds to the atmosphers and is a definate positive change from the standard bars dominating the area.

The Frog and Parrot has just been named Pub of the Month by Sheffield Camera.
It also does occasional music nights with locals coming in and playing (everything from acoustic bands to a piano player). Oh and the pub gets better

Have your crutches handy if you try the pint of roger and out (not for the faint hearted). A must for any pub crawl, with a nice choice of ales. Guaranteed hangover creator.

The Frog & Parrot is a real pub, in the heart of the trendy Devonshire Quarter. Has an unbeatable range of guest ales and fine wines. The food is tasty and very good value. Downstairs is Sheffield's oldest surviving brewery, where the legendary Roger & Out is crafted. Occasionally banned by the authorities the record holding strong beer is supplemented by a range of real shooters - the absinthe and suicide tequilas are not for the faint hearted.
