I’ve seen reports saying this place is really popular on weekday lunchtimes. Unfortunately, it wasn’t when I was there. At 1pm on a Saturday there were only 3 other people in the place, and two of those left in the time it took me to drink my half ! Nor was the selection of beer inspiring. Just two of the 4 handpumps were in use, serving Bombardier and Hobgoblin. This was definitely the worst of the 8 pubs I visited on my Stockport crawl. [ though to be far, I had done research, and only visited places that sounded promising ]

4/10 – take your trade elsewhere

Cracking little pub. Good range of guest beers and a decent pint of Carling or Wife beater for the lager drinkers out there. Excellent home cooked food and the staff are friendly.

Karaoke on a Saturday night if that's your poison. It's not mine, but I'll go in any other time.

It gets very busy at lunch times and can be deathly quiet in the evenings, always welcomed by the staff and locals alike, beer spot on especially the bitters.

Great atmosphere in this cosy pub. Situated near lots of government buidings so expect pub to be busy at lunch & closing times (esp. on Fridays). Good home cooked food and an excellent pint of Carling make this the best pub in the area by some way

The pub is split into three levels with the bar occupying the central level. Excellent atmosphere (especially at the weekends due to it's loation in between Grand Central and the Market Place) A broad range of beers and lagers. Home cooked food served everyday between 12 and 2pm. Cracking jukebox. Excellent decor, except when the regulars are in. Always a friendly smile behind the bar, which is wider when you hand the money over
