Not been in for about a year, though on previous visits has never seemed especially busy and the real ale selection was a bit lacking. One time there was a hand written pump label of something obscure (which we decided to risk) and on the following visit only Black Sheep on offer.
Plenty of more inspiring pubs in the immediate area.

This place is undergoing a paint job which I feel wasn't really needed. Was greeted by an over friendly/drunk scouser who possibly annoyed a few people that day. Otter bitter was the real ale on that day which was nothing special. This place has potential to be very good but is lacking behind great pubs like the vine and city arms in its beer selection.

Popped in after National winter Ales Festival. More of a locals feel to the place. Beer was fine, staff friendly, locals pleasant enough and sport on TV.

Pleasant enough but nothing special.

Went in at teatime after a business trip to Manchester; excellent beer, friendly staff and friendly locals;
|
Went here to watch the rugby, it was ok but a bit underwhelming. Not enough people watching the tellies to generate that much atmosphere really. Ok beer. Ok staff. All just a bit 'ok' really. 6/10

A nice, friendly traditional boozer in the heart of China Town. The Black Sheep was pleasant enough on my last visit and the conversation was lively. A fun little throwback to a simpler age.

Small, seemingly friendly local pub - a couple of cask ales available on my visit. Ok but nothing special.

Went in before going for a chinese fri 4th dec, very busy pub with the after work crowd. Great pint too, again this is what a pub should be, old fashioned, good ale, good atmoshpere, how pubs used to be!

Charming pub, great for watching the football, racing, rugby and any other sport with a nice range of real ales. The staff are very friendly and its location makes it an ideal escape from Christmas shopping or a swift one before going to China Town.

Semi-traditional, semi- 'locals'' boozer in Manchester's Chinatown. Decent real ales on offer, but loud music a bit off-putting. Not a bad place, but equally not worth going out of your way for.

A strange little pub, admittedly with some olde world charms, but on the evidence of recent match days - also packed with chavs, old soaks, United hooligans and nutters. Which is fine if you like that sort of thing! JUKE BOX CAN BLARE A BIT AS WELL.

Good location, friendly bar staff and cool place to watch the footie. Only found this pub recently and becomin a bit of a regular.Deffo have to watch those stairs though. One slip and you could be leaving in a casket!
|
Nice little boozer, decent atmosphere and - here's the big suprise; it's open til 6:30am most nights! Extraordinary!
|
Nice place tucked away on the edge of Chinatown. Nice atmosphere and layout. Worth a visit, certainly.
|
Excellent for cup final day, decent beer and speedy service despite the pub being full. Perhaps we should have stayed in there for the 2nd half and the result might have been different.
|
When St Paddy's Day and the Cheltenham Gold Cup coincide you know the Seven Oaks is going to be packed - and it was. Still a favourite of mine when in the centre.
|
Pretty much ditto last two comments. Always friendly, get a good crowd in,both dinner and night.
Don`t arrange to meet there unless you KNOW its open.Landlord seems to be getting windier about when he opens.Seen it shut even Saturday nights if there`s a whiff of potential football trouble rumours.
Winding steep stairs can make getting to the toilet a lot quicker than it should be when a bit tipsy.

Excellent, friendly pub. Agree with previous comment about it being a 'locals pub' - but they are all realy friendly locals! Good beer! Doesn't usually open on Bank Holidays - which is a great pity.

Has presently got quite a feel of a locals pubs about it for its fairly central position in town, which is a good thing apart from the fact that it feels a bit cramped when theres a few people in. My major gripe here goes back a long time(to the early 80`s)-when to my mind-one of Manchesters most beautiful mid 20c pub interiors was ripped out by trhe brewery in favour of varnished wood,to my mind it did to the interior what Greenalls did to the `Tommy Ducks`..ie demolished it!
