Standard chain pub , occasional good music night is put on whilst other nights it's nearly empty in there , less chavs than the nightjar .

Looks can be deceiving, We thought we would stop in as it is only 1 mile up the road, but never again. the outside of the pub looks great but once we got in it was so dead and it was 7pm normally any good pub or restaurant is quite busy at this time and thats when i had a feeling usually there is a reason a pub is quiet and i was right. We weren't greeted. We had to find a waiter and ask what to do, she just said sit where you, we then went on and found a seat, waited around 15mins but no one came so i then found out we had to order from the bar. I had the mixed grill and my partner had the bbq chicken melt. we got the food in good time but it was horrible I left my steak because it was rock solid, even though i asked for medium well, the chicken tasted of nothing, the pork chop smelt and tasted funny and my partners chicken was dry with no flavour watso ever. the waiter didn't even bother to come and ask if it was ok, but nether did " this has never happened to me before usually they get you with a mouthful lol" so we waited and waited but no one came in the end we just got up and left, the waiter look at us still didn't ask and didn't even say thank you for coming it was just silence so we just walked out and we don't plan on coming back anytime in the near future. I wouldn't recommend wasting you money here I think i will stick to the smuglers haunt in ferndown or the fox and hound in wimborne!!!

VERY DISAPPOINTING!! Food was terrible, service was even worse (slow and v. rude!). This was my first and LAST visit!

Tried twice now to have a decent meal since the latest refurb and twice been disappointed. Nearly an hour from ordering to being served, skeleton bar staff and low quality tasting food. I miss the char-grill type food that they used to cook in full view of the punters, the mixed grill I had was terrible. I now have vouchers from Marstons in a way of an apology but they wont be used here.

This used to be a regular haunt of mine back when it was called the Ferndown and it was on the main road (i.e. before the by-pass was built), and that was a long time ago. Revisited recently when passing through and was very happy with what I found. The Ringwood bitter was clear, fresh and tasty and the food menu was a delight with a lot of variety and some unusual dishes. My wife and I settled on a vegetarian kiev and a parsnip parcel both were unusual dishes and both were very delicious and well presented. Could not fault the beer or the food. I'll be back.

Large red-brick roadside pub with a big carpark, an HW Wellfed establishment. H W Wellfed=Marstons=W & D. and that about says it, cloned menu, cloned beer and no atmosphere at all. Saying that it was crowded on both my recent visits, crowded with youngsters who seemed to be having a good time and sprinkled with older folk, not old, merely older, mostly dining. They looked as if they felt out of place, as did I. Two bitters, Ringwood Best and Pedigree, both looked ok but were more or less tasteless, interchangeable even. Didn't try the food, plastic menu's put me off. My rating (on two visits) 4. A very sad shadow of its former self.

This pub used to be very nice, until the refurb. The plastic chain pub signage outside looks awful, The food has also suffered

Since being refurbished it's much better. don't like wine from little bottles. food quite good, nice verandah and decking outside plenty of seating inside, good service

This place is cheap, only dont bother going on a Fri or a Sat night. It's full of people and attitude because of that reason.
