Now refurbished, looking very smart, one bar removed to make way for new kitchen and it has a new permanent landlady. 4 real ales on offer, cheaper than before, all seem to be kept well, could return as the best pub in the village, particularly if they change the beers on a regular basis.

Reopened under a temporary manager, 4 real ales, decently kept.

Currently closed - let's hope it reopens soothing

Nice pub but too expensive!!

12 months since last review and I still think this is a good pub, the real ales are fine, although the guest beer does run out quite quickly so not available every night. Lunch food is good and the atmosphere is good, you do have to wait to be served though when it is busy.

This is a great local pub, with delicious pub grub at reasonable prices and it has a very good atmosphere.
The best friendly local pub with excellent staff, who look after you very well. They now have a very extensive food menu, available every day, which is delicious and at a very reasonable price - proper pub food!
excellent pub, with a great village atmosphere, lovely pub with low ceilings, exposed beams and a roraring open fire, - this place goes back to the doomsday book, - its a village pub as it should be.
a good selection of beers, lager and ales including regually changing guest ales, all well kept with knowledgeable staff....
good pub food on offer... another reason to go and check it out...

This pub is in my heritage. My great grandfather and grandmother ran it from 1900 to 1906 where my great greandmother died. I visited the pub last year and had Sunday lunch. Met up with Rachel who was brilliant and told me the history of the pub. The inside has not been changed very much but the low ceilings, oak beams, open fireplace I think gave the pub atmosphere. The lunch was lovely. Cant comment on the beer as I was driving and I had a coke. The downside to the pub is the huge LCD screens for mainly the football. They are too big and overshadow the rest of the pub and why they need 2 in such a small area is beyond me. Another sad thing is that there is no beer garden. Parking is non existant too. Otherwise worth a visit.

Could be a nice locals pub for the older folk, shame about the attitude problems they seem to have behind the bar. Snide comments and back stabbing aren't a nice thing to have to sit and listen to while you're supping on a pint!!
Now that there is "No Smoking" this pub is even nicer, the low ceiling made the atmosphere a bit dense previously. There are generally 3 real ales on one of which is a guest ale, the others were Tribute and Pride. Generally kept well but occassionaly you get a poor one (that's real ale for you). This is the best pub in CSP full of atmosphere and charm.

Proper village pub no more no less no problem.

Not my favourite pub, which is The Poachers over the road, but the staff are very friendly. More an older locals pub, bit dark and dingy for me, very traditional but still a nice place.
love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this is the sort of place that is fast disappearing in England. This is a pub. fantastic!

Old fashioned pub serving well kept ales but at distinctly modern prices - Still beats the Greyhound down the road!
I do like this pub, its the place you go to after work for relaxing drink. They also, from time to time have live music which is always good fun, and the staff are very good. However, it is now 3.20 for a pint of Stella which makes it the most expensive pint in the village and a 20p a pint price hike seems a little excessive to me.
I think the white hart is a lovely pub to chill out and have a drink, Rachel and Kim are very friendly and I really enjoy going in there!!! I did prefer the old menu though but overall its a cosy little pub
Good local pub with guest ale changed weekly.
Ignore the review by richvjones on 23/01/06, he is confusing it with another pub with the same name.
Was an excellent pub with a knowledgeable landlady, recently there has only been bar staff there and the quality of beer has slipped and the attitude to customers has deteriorated. Would love it to come back to its previous standard.
I like this place, a real proper pub, same old people in there all the time tho!
Great pub. Fantastic food in a lovely setting. Been there in the summer with plenty of room outside and an area for children to play. Very welcoming, with a small bar area. They also have B&B accommodation for those who wish to stay in the area.
Is it appropriate for the landlady to write a review as a user? Don't think so, Rachel.
Charming atmosphere and decor, friendly staff, great pub quiz on Thursdays. Also does food lunchtimes and has a big screen for sports.

Friendly bar staff, open fire, very relaxing on a weekday evening. Beware of low ceilings!

One of the oldest buildings in Chalfont St Peter, reputedly over 500 years old. Once inside many of the original timbers are exposed, but beware of the low ceilings. Very popular with the locals, gets very busy, especially weekends.
