Moores Bar, Chertseyback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
Remember this place aptly named. Thomas moores everywhere, not any more, went here with the crunt, gigolo, Ebdon, his best mate paleface and cashmere. Australian theme now, the crunt pointed out that there union jack was all messed up: too many stars and shamrocks, they asked us too leave. Paleface shouted out. "Australians??... Returned to the scene of the crime have yahhh!"

Another one bites the dust. Moores Bar was taken over about 18 months ago by a couple and was given an 'Australian theme'. There are so many things wrong with this place and the running of it. Its a relatively small venue and has quite a good selection of beers and spirits, prices aren't bad but the bar lacks any kind of ambience and the bar staff seem ill trained and lacking in character. As a local resident, I have to ask why the bar has been labelled 'Aussie themed' except for the fact that I think the owner may have descended from there. It doesn't seem that the owners have carried out any market research or have any business knowledge about why the previous owners had to shut up shop. The idea of opening up a bar because you like a beer is similar to opening a coffee shop because you enjoy a coffee in the morning. This is just another example of 'lets run a bar, I think it'll be fun' ethos....which rarely works out well. I have seen a sign recently that the place is shutting down and its hardly a surprise.

Moores Bar hasn't been Moores for some time. Its most recent incarnation is as Ashiem's which is laid-back Aussie run and sligtly themed Bar. Joe & Helen the Managers/Landlords/Hosts are always keen to help and have turned what was a dive into one of the nicest places in Chertsey. It can be whatever you want, if you're after an office lunchtime pint and a bite- its there. If you're after somewhere to have a party they are more than accomodating allowing DJ's & live bands and if you're after a quiet time without hassle or interruption Ashiem's is the place to go. All food is very well presented and cooked and reasonably priced and all beers are kept in excellent condition. No real ales for the CAMRA bunch and if you're a Guinness fan there is a different approach for you to enjoy. Highly recommended- I have been several times and am more than likely to end up there at some point each weekend.

Moores Bar was taken over in late 07 maybe even in 08 by new owners. It's been shut down now and is having it's licence reviewed.
I live near the bar and since the new owners took over I have counted over 22 incidents of bottle smashing, fighting, one man even had a knife there and was arrested outside the bar.
It used to be a good wine bar with comedy nights on a Wednesday and somewhere to go for a good chat & natter, or meeting friends after work. Now however, sadly, wannabe millionaires driving suped up Vectras have taken over, painted it black, and made it an awful, dangerous place to go.
If you drive past it, it's easy to spot on the street as all the windows have been smashed in and covered in black bin liners and it's got a sign on it about having it's licence revoked.
Also they allow smoking inside the bar which I thought was illegal throughout the UK. The guy who owns the bar reckons it's up to the individual owner not up to the law. Nice man by the way. Thinks he's the next Craig David in his beenies!
Don't ever go there! Try The Crown instead or Windsors.

Went in there last night to find people smoking at the bar (yes, this is in November 2008). Reminded me of how nice the smoking ban actually is.
Ordered a gin and tonic with Bombay Sapphire. The bottle of Bombay was quite obvious at the back but the barmaid had to ask one of the bar hangers for help as she didn't know what it was.
Then their card machine broke and they insisted on writing down all my details on a payment slip - and I mean all, including the security code off the back, which I KNOW they don't need. Had to make them tear up the slip and borrow cash off my friend.
Really quite bad.

This place is rubbish and far too small. Must appeal to the trendy "wine bar" type crowd I suppose. For an evening of real drinking go to a proper pub.

Best place to Chill out and have a beer in Chertsey. Great hosts. If you are an Ale lover, don't bother 'cause they don't do it.

Great Place for a relaxing drink. Phil and James are great as are the bar staff. Highly recommend Moores Bar.
