Have recently moved to the area and find O'Niells a great place for a quiet pint or a big night out. Band nights are really good and tend to be busy - some good bands on - saw a band called Prime Suspects on Bank Holiday weekend and they where fantastic. Bar staff really friendly and generally good atmoshere in the pub. Only down side is it can gety a little hot and the toilets aren't the best.

Pretty cool pub, i got a cheap pint of Grolsch on one particular evening which pleased me, i'd recommend O'Neills wholeheartedly. A good pub with a good atmosphere.

Lots of footie, big food portions and table service from quite possibly the most gorgeous barmaid in Didsbury! Can't remember her name but she is asian looking with a killer smile....I want to marry her!

Top pub - especially on a Sunday night when they have some of the band bands about playing. Friendly bar staff who always go out of their way to help. The only place to be on a Sunday evening

This is actually one of my favourite pubs in Didsbury!! Granted you often have to stand up, but the excellent bar staff make up for that, they are always efficient and there is often table service which is good!! The live bands could be better but still the atmosphere is always great!!

Having read the rest of the comments posted here about O'Neills I can see where they're coming from. However a lot has to be said for this pub. Having only been living in Didsbury for 4 months after moving here from Scotland, the staff in O'Neills are 2nd to none. They've taken the time to get to know me, treated me as one of their own and never once have i been made to feel unwelcome. As for the bands that play, sure there are some that aren't too hot... However when you've got the Funky Monks and the Groovyrev's playing every few weeks, this place ain't short of class. As for the comment about an entire side of the bar for glass collecting... Get real mate, its about 2 foot long. If you count that as an entire side of the bar then yer a bit of a numpty. The bar area is bigger than any other bar in Didsbury i can think of and theres always someone on hand to serve you up a nice cold beveridge.

Its lost a lot of the `buzz` it had when it 1st opened & the refurb didn`t do it any favours...it still gas a reasonable atmosphere at weekends... but lets have a few proper bands!

Does anyone else remember when ONeills first opened, and they had live music ?? What a pub it was then - best night out in manchester. Now unfortunately, it's just another theme pub. And not a very good one at that.

Why would a bar have one side of its bar just for glass collection? Especially when the bar serving area is the drinkers favourite spot to stand and lean on? RESULT the notice stuck on top of the bar surface is partially hidden! I (newcomer) stood there for a while waiting to be served after finding a small space to squeeze into before one of the staff (the owner?) comes over and stabs his finger on the notice (after pushing someone's possession out of the way). This was some time after the official glass collector had smirked at me on his way to and fro journey of collecting glasses! I mean, O'neills has a glass collector for this night for heavens sake!! There were no glasses on this side of the bar, only drinkers hanging off. NOT IMPRESSED.

Typical fake Oirish pub. Hideously overpriced drinks, and annoying bar staff who keep coming round asking if you want anything else to drink. Nothing like any of the pubs I went to when I was in Ireland, which seemed to be generally a lot like English pubs, but open later and with better guiness.
