I have just heard the wonderful news that this place is finally being shut down on the 15th of May and lets hope its for good !

Personally I feel that this is a top pub - the staff are really friendly, the landlord is super and the prices are reasonable. The locals are great people as well, which I feel is a bonus! As for the comments about food, i have eaten in there several times and found the food fine! I especially like the fact they have reduced the number of pool tables as there is more space - 3 was more than enough if you want my opinion. They also host a number of entertainment nights which I have found a right giggle - we have had karaoke, comedy nights, live bands, discos... the list is endless! A great pub overall, well done guys!!

Having been away for some while I was pleased to hear that the pub was being run by a new couple. I was pleasently suprised when I walked through the door to find that some effort had been made in painting the place up, but most of the furniture and carpets were the original and it was down to 2 pool tables. From there on in everything went down hill, 1st to find no sky 2nd to try the beer and 3rd to eat and experience which I will not be repeating. The beer is badly kept and no ale on pump and the food bad and the service poor. I would rate this pub at minus 10 !

The whole experience was awful, the food was cold, the service was poor and the staff were rude.

The menu lacked inspiration, the service was slow and the food when it eventually arraived was less than average the only thing you could say about it was it was hot. I certainly won't recommend this pub to anyone, apart from if every other pub in England Scotland and Wales ran out of beer.

havent been in for almost 3 years because of the way the pub was being run and the undesirables in there. I had heard there had been some changes and I have to say WOW what an improvement. Food was good and I didn't feel like I had to look over my shoulder every 5 minutes and the couple running it seemed really friendly.

Its a shame so much effort is being made with this pub but it is like flogging a dead horse.
The food could be better and the staff more inviting

what a relief the couple running the pub are back perhaps now it will lose the kindergarten atmosphere it had for two weeks. It is nice to see the doors open and a welcoming smile

The pub has recetly been re-furbed the outside has had a lick of paint! but the inside looks like a changing rooms nightmare. They were obviouly challenged to use as many pots of paint as possible not bothering that the colours do not compliment one another. They can seriously think that this is going to bring in customers especially after all the bad press they have had lately.

This is a poor pub. But it is in a reasonable area, and therefore it defies belief that it should be left to ruin as the chav-palace it undoubtedly is.
It has the potential to be a quaint, friendly quiet local servicing the collection of surrounding suburban roads. But it isn't, and doesn't even try to be.
Sadly, one to be avoided.

I just moved into Plough Road, and was excited about the proximity of this pub to my house. That exitment died as soon as i walked through its doors. It's dark, the staff are just killing time until they die (not their fault though, its that depressing). Basically its location could afford it a good customer base, but its decor, poor service, outward appearance and "pool hall" feel kill it. ANY pub that advertises its beer prices on a six foot poster is saying the wrong message. Sad really as it could be good, just needs a fresh pair of eyes. The XR3i / cosworth van car park doesnt help either.

Pretty irredeemable pub. Only virtue is that it's in the next road from mine. Many years ago, the brewery tried to make it into a pub that appealed to the whole community, but gave up and turned it into a Big Screen Sport and Pool pub appealing solely to under-30s (or maybe under-20s)
