The pub closed in mid-2009. I stopped by today (in Jan 2010) and asked if it was re-opening, but the gent who answered the door said "No, never". He's bought it and is turning it into a private residence.

Now closed, used to be a relly nice pub.

Sadly, now closed - a sign on the inside of the door says that due to current economic conditions etc, it's not viable any more.
I went a few times - the food was good, though a touch pricey by some comparisons, though it was never busy and no great surprise that it didn't last out.

Average pint of Pride in a fair pub, probably best sampled on a summers day in the front garden as I did.
Not sure about the hospital blue paint in the inside though.
Will try again on a nice day, but won't be pining for another visit anytime soon.

I don't understand the ratings for this pub. Last time I went there was no-one else in there - it was freezing and I mean cold.
The food was OK but seriously expensive and the beer indifferent (and too cold!). I would not recommend this pub.

I visited on a Saturday lunchtime. The place was empty apart from one family occupying the sofas by the door. I was only popping in for a pint so I sat at one of the few non-dining tables. Surprisingly the barman seated the diners right next to me so I relocated to the sofas. Beer OK - Brakspears and London Pride. Pavarotti on the music system. I got the impression that this establishment possibly takes itself too seriously as an eating house. JMHO.

Went back to this restaurant/pub after enjoying our first meal, what a difference a coat of paint makes, brilliant.

What a little jem for good food. The presentation, flavour and value for money (well I think so) is better than some of your 'top pubs'. I cannot compare to average pub grub because it would not do this one justice! Friendly welcome and all fresh produce used and you can tell the differnce!

Recently been taken over by a Chef with a 5* Hotel background. The food is delicious and a good choice for everyone. Nice outside eating and will be very cosy in the winter.

Good beer, nice food and, given its location, very unpretentious

Decent pub. It's the Theale pub I live closest to, but for a long time I didn't use the place at all. Now, I'm beginning to get pulled back that way as the village pubs are going a bit downhill in my view.
Usually have a couple of decent ales on, and the staff are friendly.

It may now have re-opened, but whenever i have been there it has been closed.
they must have some manic opening hours, - whether they feel like opening or not.
but when it is open it is nice. coudl be a bit more family friendly though.

This pub is closed down, boarded up and the driveway is blocked and cannot be entered for some weeks now

Great Pub. Although last time I was there was 2002. Great fire in the winter, reasonably priced food for the area, and good beer. Very cozy atmosphere and nice hamlet setting outside. Good place to start a walk around the surrounding countryside.

Great place for a summer beer in the garden next to a quiet lane with very little traffic. Looks like good food too, although not had an opportunity to try more than their nuts.
