Blimey - nobody reviews since i was last here three years ago.

No band tonight but excellent service in a very busy pub. Guy behind bar even came out to wipe down tables when we took our drinks.

This always gets a extra pint.

Lots of choice down here, but nothing wrong with this place.

Don't usually go in here but as I walked past on a Thursday night on, I could hear live music. The band were excellent - lady lead singer and great musicians supporting her. I would have gladly paid to get in and had great entertainment for only the cost of a pint. This was provided by both the band and the dancing canadians. Loved it.

One of the better grassmarket pubs, still very busy.

Warm kronenbourg and warm Guinness: mmmm.........

And those annoying screens! Impossible to navigate on a busy night!

Ale OK, food good, range of oddly-clad students on display. When I was there we were "accosted" by a completely incomprehensible old guy. He wouldn't leave us alone so we left...

Please ignore previous comment, got me Black Bulls mixed up.
This one is not as good as the other one.
Just another run of the mill Grassmarket pub with wooden floors, bland food and frequented by the usual mix of rugby types/English students/tourists/squaddies/Geordie stag partys.
At it's best you can say it's average.

Good juke box, with a varied selection, although it can seem to be playing heavy rock most of the time.
Also a lot of staff from the train station drink there,as Wavereley is just doon the road as Rents and spud were seen running in that direction at the start of Trainspotting.

A large T&J Bernard pub and probably my favourite of the many along Grassmarket. They have a good range of real ales and the food is good with a friendly service. Watched the Rugby World Cup semi-finals in here without any trouble (although that was probably because most of the natives were still in bed nursing hangovers from celebrating their 1-0 win over Holland - little could they imagine what would happen in the second leg).
