A group of friends and myself meet here about once a month, and have done for a year or so. The food is acceptable for 'Pub Grub'. Occasionally when very busy we have had to wait a while, but if it wasn't popular they wouldn't be busy! Salads have always been fresh with a good mix. Service is reasonably friendly - you wouldn't want a waitress to stand chatting too much. With the two for one offer the meals are very reasonable.

I have to say that on visiting this pub i found the food not to be of the best quality,bit fast food,microwavey with bland tastes,slow service,and over priced and also the landlady kept walking around the pub watching every move which made it feel an uncomfortable meal
I don't think this is suited to familys with children anymore and since they got rid of the ball pit in the winter for children it is to boring
The outside play area however on warm days is lovely and also the walk through the country near the pub but i suggest you just have a drink there and forget the meals

the place is better now it is a non smoking pub, the decor has improved since the previous owner, but we only visit as its the only local place within walking distance(15 mins). when we go, we only ever order something that has to be cooked fresh ie: steak as we have had many bad experiences with microwaved precooked food, the one that sticks out most was the 'wild mushroom lasagne', when they brought it out, they said 'oh, who's the veggie then?', I'm not, but it sounded good on the menu, how wrong I was, I never new that button mushrooms were classed as wild, and the only other ingredient besides over cooked dried up pasta seemed to be something that resembled branston pickle!!! We,ve had uncooked chips, waited nearly 2 hours for a meal in a nearly empty pub, and the kids meals are completely overpriced for under average food (especially when you compare the price of a kids meal- 3 courses of fresh food at a beafeater) is less than the price of a one course meal of saturated kiddy fat without a drink at the manor. the salad is so poor, a bit of wet lettuce, cucumber that must have been sliced early morning and left in the fridge to dry out, and a slice of green tomato, not on just one occasion, but every time. we used to use this place as was close and the only available non smoking pub to take kids, but from now on we will travel farther afield, as the overpriced drinks, and inadequate food completely ruin what has the potential to be a good pub!

This pub is ok if you live local but not worth travelling to. The grills on the menu are overcooked by amateaur chefs who tend to burn everything and the other dishes on the menu all come from the microwave. Salads consist of lettuce cucumber, tomato and cress. The prices are reasonable if 2 people are eating, as it is buy one get one free, but far too expensive for one. The service seems ok although the younger staff appear surly and unhelpful. Nice pub to sit out in the summer.

at least the interior has improved greatly from the
previous owners and the no smoking policy is good.
BUT hardly any tables for people just having a drink,
loads of empty tables for food which you are not allowed to sit at!
food is ok but the two for one price actually just
makes it reasonable - at the full price it is far too expensive
staff not friendly at all - do not seem interested.
Food orders get mixed up and food takes forever to arrive
They need to sort out if they are a pub with food
in which case more tables for non-eaters required,
or a restaurant in which case they need to start again with menu and staff.
Shame because the area and building are great

well,where can you start with this place? total lack of service by staff who seemed untrained( they had no knowledge of the menu availabilty when asked)we waited over an hour from actually placing an order for ten people to receiving the meals. when the meal finally arrived 3 of them had to be returned. A steak which was ordered medium rare turned up charcoaled. a lamb and pasta bake looked like it had spent several hours in the midday sun warming before it was put on the plate from which it was curling away from.The same could also be said about a lasagne dish which looked like it also had a spell in the sun. This meal all took place on a night that supposedly offered a two meals for one offer. A complaint was made the bill was paid and a discount of 50% was offered. the bill was paid and no more was said.
The complete Irony of this however is the following. The meal in particular was for my grandparents 62nd wedding anniversary, and when the folowing fact's are taken into account:
1- the total value of the meal and drinks bought with it should be approx �80-85 by my calculations
2- the bill that was first rang in and offered to my grandfather was just under �100-
3- when the supposed discount was offer he still paid about �55.
I hadn't the heart to tell him that he had also been ripped off, as he was allready upset more than enough at the way his specail evening for the family had GONE.
I will never eat there again

Massive pub serving decent range of beers and food - especially the chocolate desserts! Not the most welcoming of places but always a table free.
