Agree with all below. Right next to the Metro and they tend to show sports when other pubs simply can't be bothered (Heineken Cup matches etc). Good atmosphere, fast efficient staff and a pretty decent pint of Guinness to boot. Popular with both regulars and students. Long may it continue.

Comments below say it all - this has always been a decent pub - I'ne been going there for over 30 years. beer good. food good. staff efficient & friendly - generally a good mix of locals & students to keep it lively

A canny bar which is handy for a couple after work as it is right next to the Metro. ALways seems busy with a good atmoshpere and can get a decent pint.

I have been using the Lonsdale for over 30 years and currently it is a bit problematical as the beer of any note seems to run out all too often. As well, it seems that the licensee is having problems getting decent supplies but generally I recommend it. The food is good also.

Nice Barras pub, decent food, footie on, near Metro Station, student friendly but not full of the posers and southern students all the other Jesmond bars are full of. Worth checking out.

Good pub, good food. Shows the footy, acrosos the road from the metro. A welcome change from the bars on osbourne road. upstiars is open at busier periods.

You can't knock the Lonnie, tucked away from Osborne road with space to chill, have a crack and enjoy a decent beer. Right next to the Metro so a good stop on the way into toon, or to kick the night off reet with a few liveners... Quiz nights are always good crack, & watching the footie there the night England walloped Germany 5-1 was one to remember!!

A good local pub with good quality, reasonably priced beer. The place can be absolutely packed on match nights (especially England games), but generally has plenty of space.

Right next the Metro; always (but not too) busy. Very mixed crowd from students to Jesmond residents. Good John Barras grub. Special days and nights. Always a good atmosphere.

I use to live nearby, and now that I am back home, I really miss it ! It is really a place you want to go as often as you can. The quiz nights are great, the staff friendly, the crowd is full of university students and it is located in front of a metro station. How can you ask for more? I want to go back!!!
