please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
Visited here earlier this year and I guess things have changed over the five years since the last review. It was pretty busy with quite a lot of well behaved young people (University?) who seemed to be enjoying their food and drinks.
We did exactly the same - good food and well kept range of bitters which I understand change pretty regularly.
Give it a go, you may well be pleasantly surprised!

Not a great pub. Frequented by scum pretty regularly. Poor selection of ales. Not the worst but certainly nowhere near a decent enough standard.

Very big, very bright, very dull

Cheap beer, good atmosphere - 2 giant screens downstairs for football, but gets absolutely rammed for big games. Nice staff, studenty clientelle.

Average food; cheap beer but a bit awkward screen positions for watching footie. Pleasant staff

Haven't been there since 1988, but at that time every evening in the sports saloon. Great athmosphere and very nice guests. Greetings to Sarah and Gren, Mandy and Robin and of course Peter from Loughborough University

It's big. That's about as much as I can say. won't be going in again.

Large coaching-inn style twentieth century structure on a main road. Nice furnishings inside but a slightly "family pub" take-yer-gran-for-Sunday-lunch type atmosphere (which may or not be your, or your gran's, thing). Staple mass-produced peas-and-chips-and-an-approximation-of-pork-cop type food.
I did go to a good quix night there once, though. God knows how that happened. I shoud caveat all this by saying that it's at LEAST five years since I've been to this place since I left Nottingham when I graduated.

Pretty nice place, usually has several different beers on, a few big screens for the footy, and pretty good food.
