I thought this was one of the better pubs in Ryde. It's tucked away on a residential street in a position you would not expect. The interior felt a bit dark. But it has a traditional feel and it appears that sport is popular here, with plenty of live sport shown on the TVs and some locals playing dominoes. The 3 ales are Courage Directors & Goddards Fuggle Dee-Dum & Ale Of Wight.

Is rated by the local CAMRA branch as one of the best ten pubs on the Isle of Wight.
Visited on a busy Saturday night (opening parade for the Island games) and was a bit disappointed in the real ale on offer, two from Goddards a Island brewery but I thought they were served a bit too cold.
Seems to be a bit of a "dodgy" area as just down the road two transit van loads of Police were arresting someone!!
Not a bad pub but not as good as I expected.

Would agree - a good backstreet boozer which is worth the walk from the town centre. Beer was fine - and it was local!!
|
Backstreet local with nice beer from Goddards. Worth a look.

Friendly welcoming pub with some excellent ales on. Big screen with all the live football on and an excellent mix of all age groups in here. My Favourite pub in Ryde

Best of a bad bunch on a Thursday evening.Ladies darts on 1 of the 2 boards. Beer ok.

Still as busy and lively as ever, a thriving back street locals pub with all age groups represented. My pint of Goddards was not as could as it could have been, an unusual experience here as the beer is usually good.

"Do you want to have a taste of the beer first?". How many pubs ask that? Very friendly and welcoming. Beer very good; selection of three good ales.

I dont know much about this pub, but its my dad frequnts this place alot. Reports are that the beer is good quality and the food is very good value. I believe they have live music every other Saturday night.

Visited this pub in Sept 2001. A nice backstreet local, features occasional live music. The 2001 Camra GBG recommended the pub, prompting my visit.
I was disappointed by the quality of the ale in this pub. The first pint was like vinegar, so I had it changed to another, however the second pint was still so bad I could not finish it.
A good case of nice pub - shame about the beer.
