user reviews of the Dairymans Daughter, Arreton

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

The Dairyman's Daughter is situated in the Arreton Barn complex, a collection of touristy shops. The pub is certainly aimed towards visitors and appears to do a good business in food. Prices were set accordingly. Ales were Goddards Fuggle Dee-Dum, Ringwood Arreton Old Village Ale, Best Bitter & Forty Niner & Yates' Islander. Whilst not strictly a real cider, I was quite happy with Addlestones. The inside is quite large. There is a conservatory area near the entrance and more seating areas nearer the bar. There are old penny arcade machines between the entrance and the toilets. A decent place to try.

Cannot believe I haven't posted a review on here before as I have been here a number of times during my visits to the IOW.

Despite in a tourist trap this is a lovely pub which does a good beer selection and has plenty of seating both indoors and out. It also has the advantage of not being to far from anywhere on the island, and route 8 bus stops virtually outside the complex.

A pub in the middle of the complex which is the old village of Arreton. It has a large long lounge and the bar has a very good range of real ales, including Goddards Ale of Wight. The lounge is unusual with its stone flagstones and assorted nik naks. Seating varies from booths to separate chairs and tables. A pub for the tourists.

Only stopped for one pint of Ringwood Best but place was buzzing and obviously heavily tourist populated, given its location.

Lovely pub, part of a cfafts village so set back from the road.

Bus stop nearby so can be done on public transport.

Large selection of real ale and good selection of foreign beer and also cider.

Good outside drinking area with old farm machinery dotted about.

Great pub, good location, good selection of ale, fabulous staff. Hence the rating of 4!! Poor quality pre-prepared food, had to complain on 2 occasions. No reply to complaints/comments. Go there to drink but not to eat!!

We got the No.8 bus from Newport to Arreton Craft Village so it is bussable if you haven't got a car. The pub looks quite old once you're inside with flagstone floors and stuffed animals in glass cases. Maybe it was a farm outbuilding conversion. Anyway, it was very pleasant and welcoming and had a good choice of beers. The food looked good and if you fancy a cream tea with your pint you can nip in the cafe at the front. If you're on a beer trip the White Lion is just 5 mins away with 3 beers to choose from and the Hare and Hounds isn't that far either - take a short cut across the fields if you're feeling skippy.

For a chain type pub they do a pretty good job. The live music was good and the food's okay. I'd say a good place to feed kids in.

Shame it's in a tourist trap because if it was tucked away in a country lane it'd be one of the best pubs in England. Eight real ales including their own Scarecrow brew, Ventnor and Goddards plus loads of mainland ones too. The food is great , both in value and quality with a good specials board. They do a good quiz night too, plus live music on some nights.
I want to drink myself through the entire real ale selection, but you have to drive to get there, so not exactly a local for anyone.

Appaling plastic pub in tourist grot spot. Decent selection of ales although one was off. Chatty attractive barmaid. Cream teas greatly out-performing beer sales mid-afternoon. Luckily no no sign of Malcolm from Totland.

We visited this pub for the first time Sept 2006 (looks like we've been following Dave around)in fact we visited it twice while we were on the island. I have only praise for the varied menu large portions and ambient surroundings. Lovely. We hope to visit again this year.

Visited this pub on a recent visit to the IOW and thought it was excellent. Located in the Arreton Barns craft complex it has a large patio and ample indoor seating. Good atmosphere and ideal for famillies. They had two ciders and six ales on tap for which opted for the Sussex Brewery tipple. Tried the Hobblers Pie (6.95) which was tasty and served quickly even though it was a Saturday evening. Staff were friendly and would recommend a visit if you are on the island.

I have visited this pub many times. The menu is vast, I have tried something different each time I have visited and have not been dissapointed. The owner takes a genuine interest in the customers, On each occasion he has come to the table and ask if everything is to our satisfaction. Which it always is.
The ale is kept very well and there is a good selection with local Beers. This is my favourite, this is where you should take that someone who is special.

Have visited this pub once in 2004. The menu was varied and food good. Good value. Would apeal to all age groups.
This location is much favoured by visiting coach parties as there is adequate parking.

Large pub, with many outdoor seats and good off-road parking. Very good food menu, with some superb specials. Family friendly, with craft centre and local brewery and beer-shop nearby.
