The Ship & Castle has now re-opened. I just had time for a swift drink before the ferry back to the mainland. Entrance is through a side door. A few people were standing right next to the door singing, which made it difficult to open the door. Fuller's London Pride is the regular beer. The guest on yesterday was Milestone Rich Ruby. The barman was friendly. Most customers seemed to be enjoying a sing-a-long and it appeared that there had been a live singer earlier. Strange place but likeable in a way.

This pub is very close to the Red Funnel ferry terminal. But it is currently closed down.

Went here last week, not a bad boozer, but only one ale available, maybe its better in the Summer.

Nice enough street corner local on the unfashionable side of the river. They had a beer festival on and my pint of Yates Gold was drawn from the cellar. It was drinkable enough. My cohorts reckoned their drinks were nice enough (Banks Milds - no accounting for taste, and Hogs Back TEA) . One of the better alehouses around Mootown. The telly in the bar was a bit over powering though.

Lovely, welcoming street corner local, only slightly spoilt by the huge TV. Several ales from interesting breweries such as Clarkes. No IOW beers on my visit. Very handy for the ferry.Recommended.

The Goddards Winter is as expected and the crowd is of an enthusiastic nature. Recommended.

Popped in here for a quick pint whilst awaiting a ferry which was delayed. Glad I did. 4 real ales available, the St Austell Dartmoor was a good choice. Would certainly visit again.

Best ale house by far in East Cowes with a very enthusiastic landlord. Very small pub which is rather dominated by the large Sky Sports screen. Bit tucked away by the Red Funnel ferry but worth looking out for. Apparently voted the Islands 5th best ale house. Keep it up.

Found ourselves waiting in the cold wind for the chain link ferry to West Cowes plus I was busting for a slash (!) so we popped in. Its a pub I've walked passed a few times but never ventured inside. Several locals at the bar but friendly and polite staff. Sat down for a decent pint of whatever ale it was. I agree with Happydudes comments about the TV. Was on quite loud and attention was drawn to that as was the whole pubs. Not bad though.

First pint was a Batemans beer we hadn't had but this had to be replaced as it was rancid. The next one a Daleside Blonde (from our neck of the woods) didn't seem to be much better - bear in mind this pub is a Good Beer Guide Entry. We were pushed for time and found nothing here to make us linger.

Some good locals and bar staff, and some great real cider's. TV is on a bit much for me.

If your thirsty and in East Cowes, you cant go wrong here. Enjoy

This used to be a great pub when it was The Robin Hood and run by Jock Elliot. Used to drink in there from around 1968-1980. Went back once since it changed names in 1994 only to find Bill Gough working behind the bar! Has the world gone mad? I live in Detroit, USA now.
Greetings to all my old friends
