Handy for the train station as it is the nearest pub.
My pint of brains Sa gold was very good, the trouble is though that the place was very busy and full of students and I cannot stand students.

Visited lunchtime 19/12/13 quiet as students have gone home. Served by Landlord Stuart, very friendly, informative. I had a Tribute and it was excellent, none better. Perfectly kept. Not sure of the other cask beers as we were waiting for a train and did not have time to taste or look. I am sure they would have been as well kept as the Tribute. Highly recommend and will go in again if I am there.

Handy for the station. Friendly student pub with lots of old enamel adverts around the bar. Director's and Bombadier on hand pump with the Deirectors very pleasant.

I missed my train from Plymouth to Exeter and found this by accident. Well worth a visit and closest pub to the railway station.

I co-ran this pub in 1988 for a year after my studies. Was owned by Plympton Breweries (Allied Dom) at the time so the beer was pretty naff. I still have great memories of some awesome drinking nights and the party nights we sued to throw. Have been back a few times since and although it has seen some cosmetic changes it still has the same atmosphere. Great alternative to the union bar as it's within crawling distance for most of the HOR. They used to store dead bodies on rails in the cellar during the Blitz, the holes in the wall are still there on the left above the barrel racks.

wicked pub, local for 3 years whilst at uni - jsv challenge (messy, but worthwhile, got a t-shirt- horray!) Good staff, especially blonde student. Amazing if a student, but plenty of locals too

Great pub, spent a lot of my student life in the place, very cheap drink, SKY tv on large screen, pool table, friendly student crowd, the staff are top notch and the infamous JSV challenge is always good fun :-)

Fantastic pub, spent 4 years drinking in this pub while at uni in plymouth, nice staff, good beers and can get reallllly pissed in here, happily, withno trouble :-)

Student pub, for the want of a better term. Pretty much unchanged in the last 10 years, save for various colour changes. Good character.. I like it!
Good for: Pre-going out drinking.
