Shame to abandon the White Swan name as it was well known in the town. Ale was good quality although the smell of the malt from the brewery part was a bit overpowering for me. Didn't eat but food i saw looked good.

Knew this place when it was briefly a Wetherspoon, now it's part of the Brewhouse & Kitchen chain. The brewing equipment is near the entrance, and is not behind glass as with other brewpubs, which is nice. The smell of beer brewing wafts through the pub. Four casks on offer - all brewed on the premises, plus some kegs which I didn't look at. Does food. Breakfast for £5, and meals appear to start around the £8 mark. Nice ambiance with lots of wood and little knick knacks. I like the place, and the beers, while nothing special, were enjoyable. Worth looking into if you're in the area. Is it better than when it was a Wetherspoon? Hard to say. The prices have gone up. The only cask beers are those brewed in the pub, but it's also a positive that it brews its own beers, so that's a swings and roundabouts thing. Both are chains. The building is as attractive as it was before. I think it has an edge as something you might recommend to people, but is perhaps less flexible and less family friendly.

Nice place. Part of the Brewhouse & Kitchen (crap name) chain. The beers are brewed in house and are rather good. Remember to look at the pub's magnificent exterior.

Great pub, Love the smell on brew day, Beers awsome. Plus good food and great staff, well worth a visit,

Seems the word has got around. Really busy when we went last Sunday afternoon. The beers brewed on the premises are superb.
Brilliant. Some excellent beers with a range from golden to porter brewed on the premises and good value. A really buzzing place.

awesome brewhouse, brew 8 beers, The company is now opening new pub in dorchester on the eldridge pope site.

jbs1 - they do serve breakfast! Been in here for coffee (very nice and a quid) plus the odd pint. Absolute hats off to this place, looks great, smells lovely and malty some days. The variety of beers is very good. Prices good, around £3 to £3-50 for their own brews, don't know about lagers and bottles. The food menu looks really good, but I haven't eaten there yet. From what I have seen on other tables it looks good. You can have a breakfast including tea or coffee for a fiver, comparable to Wetherspoons, but I would bet it's a whole lot better, ingredients-wise. Saturday lunchtimes fairly busy, haven't been in the evenings so not sure how it's doing then, but I hope it prospers as it's offering something different. Well worth a visit.

Visited this pub on 8th June 2013 and found that it was no longer a Wetherspoons pub but a brewhouse brewing its own beers. Did not stay as I was looking for a breakfast.

Attractive building, and unusual for a recent Wetherspoon, it's a proper pub rather than a conversation. This means that the room proportions and atmosphere is very pub like, and the toilets are on the same floor, and not a long walk away.
Though a large pub, it's smaller than the average Wetherspoon, and the beer range is not as extensive as normal, and fewer than the Spoon in the same street. However, good atmosphere, clean and tidy, and friendly staff. The only negative on our visit was that our breakfasts were a bit slow, and as we were taking part in the Great South Run that day, we would have liked them a bit quicker, and all at the same time. I suspect that two orders were initially forgotten, as one breakfast was delivered, and the next two took as long to arrive as it would have taken to cook. Other than that, an all round decent pub.

Now being sold by Wetherspoons.
Very nice put Real Ale is looked after here and can have a bettter range than other Wetherspoon nearby.
Good friendly pub, with far better service than many in the Wetherspoons group. Breakfast was served quickly and as ordered. A pint of Wychwood Hobgoblin was well kept and served properly.
good selection of Oakleaf beers in here, very reasonable Wetherspoon prices, pleasant staff...
A far quieter pub than the other Wetherspoons, at the other end of the same block. A pint of Oakleaf "Hole Hearted" in a pleasant atmosphere.
Everything the Isambard isnt - well worth the visit, good ale in a nice atmosphere - best pub in Guildhall drinking area

Unusually attractive Wetherspoons. Handy for the station.
Very nice looking wetherspoon outfit, and the pint of Oakleaf - Hole Hearted was to die for!! 8/10

The "Mucky Duck" a Wetherspoons!!!! You'll be saying next that Brickwoods has closed down!
Rather spectacular Wetherspoons. Glitzy refurb. Motivated staff. Food good. Ladies toilets really small.
Reopen as a wetherspoons, but not as a huge barn of a place, it's much more like a real pub, with local ale and a nice relaxed feel
This pub has now closed down - absolute pity... Good ol' mucky duck had lotsa memories.. i never said good memories... just memories.
it'sclosed at present, and a notice on the window say's that planning permision has been applied for by wetherspoons, but they'vw got a pub about 50 yards away

Used to be a great Pub. Back when we had a real Navy, before it went all pink and fluffy. Perhaps this place has changed with the times, but it is no longer the sort of place to enjoy yourself in with a few mates.
What a dive this place has become. It used to be a really great place to hang out! Maybe I am just getting old!
The mucky duck is legendary in portsmouth and my second home! its probably the best pub in portsmouth and the staff are really friendly. The best place to watch the footie
