Hampshire Boulevard, Southseaback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
just simply shortened to just HB. a rubbish nightclub, this is how to ruin a pub. still a good place for gay people, though.

Im straight, but perfectly welcome in here (though I would agre the loo's were a bit exposed!) Warm , and welcomeing, from both the staff and their customers. Didnt try the food, though the beer was fine. nice.

WOW --- how else can you describe this place! I'm not a big fan of the scene, but if I ever venture out I go here!
Chris and Mike, always welcome me with such delight! The bar staff are wonderful as well, at least the bar staff here talk to the customers unlike other places! ( no names mentioned hehehehe )
Oh and there sunday lunchs... scrumy! ;o)
Only one thing, not sure about the loo's ;o) there a bit...erm... open!? lol
Keep up the good work guys, see you on Friday!

How funny that someone should slag off the Hampshire Boulevard and "big up" its biggest competitor (and bitter rival) Marthas at the same time
Hmmm....
Anyway, the HB is a great pub- friendly atmosphere, trendy without being pretentious and certainly not "dirty" or "rude". Lovely garden too

Being a straight person I visited the Hampshire Boulevard with a friend who has a relation working there. I must say how very much I enjoyed myself and was not made to fee awkward in any way. The entertainment provided was brilliant and I must agree with Richard that "Michael Smith" must have attend another pub called Hampshire Boulevard because no way was the cleanliness etc poor or the staff rude. They were busy and worked as quickly as they could. I would highly recommend this pub to anyone, straight or gay.

I agree with Richardthedj and Andy's comments. Michael and Chris always promote a happy vibe in the HB, and I strongly believe that this venue - and its staff - have given the previously lacklustre gay scene in Portsmouth a huge and uplifting boost.

What a pity "Michael Smith" has nothing nice to say about the Hampshire Boulevard. I always get a warm welcome when I venture there, the staff are well trained and polite. Entertainment is provided on several nights of the week, and is well publicised in-house. Chris and Michael have made the venue the nicest gay pub in Portsmouth - and the surrounding area. Having worked and drank in the HB and in Martha's, I cannot see any similarity in standards at all, both venues being at opposite ends of the scale with regards to cleanliness, hygiene, staff training and food, with, of course, the Hampshire Boulevard being at the top end. It really sounds like I am the Hampshire Boulevard's press officer, but I don't think "Michael Smith's" comments are based on the truth, more likey they are founded on fabrication. i have made my E-mail address visible if anyone would like to comment directly to me. Take care.

This pub was dirth and very unattractive. The cleanlines was poor and the entertainment was almost non-existent. The two owners should be ashamed of themselves for having so few standards and lack of staff training. I will not be reccomending this venue to my friends and collegues who will be in South Sea soon. You should take a leaf out of Martha's Pub this venue was by far greater and has excellent high standards. Sorry to give such a poor profile but I speak my mind and believe honesty is the best policy.
