I was expecting something more glitzy and modern but this place, somewhat regretfully now called Brighton Beer Dispensary, is hard to fault. It's pokey which is probably a good thing but the range of craft and cask ales is well chosen and the service affable.

One of my favourite Brighton pubs. Great selection of beers (cask at £3.50) and a good friendly atmosphere. Can get rammed when there is a tap takeover.

Really good version of the new type of local brew pubs. Beers on tap and from the barrel - not all perfect, but much better than so many of the soulless places in the centre of Brighton. And, you can stand outside and admire the view of the power station chimney (er, the i360 monstrosity)...

Now is called the Brighton Beer Dispensary, a collaboration between Late Knights and Brighton Bier breweries who both produce some stunning ales. Alongside these the pub also sells beers from other micro breweries giving a full range to suit all tastes. This is a real enthusiasts pub and is very close to the Churchill Square shopping centre. We loved it.

I had previously walked past this pub on visits to Brighton and thought it looked like a place to avoid. Recently walked past and noticed it appeared to have been completely revamped so went for a meal there with friends.
Had a steak and a pint or two of a local ale, the name of which escapes me now. Both were excellent and I am really fussy about my steaks. Nice friendly atmosphere in there and like what they have done with the inside. Would go back again.

Sadly Spoonography apart from the man being behind the bar being friendly this pub appears to be as bad as when you were here. The first thing that hit me was the smell,i have never smelt anything quite like it in a pub in my 25 years of pub going.Secondly i was in there over half an hour and my friend and i were the only people in there the whole time, and this was 7:30 pm on a sunny Sunday July evening. The final dreadful thing about the pub was the bitter was cloudy and poor tasting. Strangely the decor was nice-it has being refurbed realitively recently and so was clean and the toilets were fine. There was also a nice conservatory area but i cannot imagine ever going near this pub again unless it changes ownership.

(Please note this review is from the one and only time we went to the Prince Arthur in Sept 2009) Went in for a drink after skating for a couple of hours on the sea-front. When I finally managed to get the attention of the bloke behind the bar away from a loud shoot-em-up xbox game he was busy playing on the big screen I asked if I could have a pint of water as I was very quite dehydrated. He refused to give me a full pint, saying "people never drink a whole pint and we're on a water meter." I downed the half pint that he'd generously given me and then asked for a refill. Not to be akward but because I was very thirsty. We ordered a couple of pints and sat down to drink them. The atmosphere was shit, we were made to feel unwelcome from start to finish. I would not recommend this place to anyone and have never been back. I hope things have changed since 2009.

Went in last week in the evening for a meal curtly told kitchen shut, no apology and the clintielle were hostile. AVOID

To me this place seems half old mans pub, half gay bar- an interesting combination! Friendly enough, but nothing special. Harveys didn't taste as good as normal
|
The Harveys is perfect and the landlords are very welcoming. Do I need to say any more?

The Prince Arthur is under new-ish management and well worth a visit. New furniture has been installed and drug-crazed scumbags have been successfully repelled, at least so far. More importantly, the drinks are high standard and the food menu comprehensive and excellent value for money. I was one of a party of 11 diners yesterday and the pub did us proud. Recommended.

Nice place, bit small but there is more room in the garden area. I would love to give this a high rating and if it was transported to any of our neighboring towns it would be one of the best in town, but in B+H its just another Victorian gem hiden away in the back streets just for the locals. Long may it remain so.

Lovely Pub this one. Its great if you want to escape the students and London Types who invade Brighton at weekends. Also have great staff, very friendly. Nice back ground music, good beer and to top it off it has its own pub dog called Rascal...a very Bouncy JR. If you must pay a visit keep it quiet, this boozer is a secret.

Mid way along a residential terraced street sloping down to the main Western Road shopping area, this traditional pub, GBG listed from 1997 to 2002, offers Fullers London Pride and Harveys Best Bitter. My pint of pride (2.40) could have been kept slightly cooler, but was otherwise of exceptionally good quality. The dcor of the one-room bar is traditional with modern touches: light-brown wood panelling nicely setting off the blue walls, clock and seat covers. Rather than the ubiquitous clutter of old prints and black and white photos of the area, the walls display selected modern photographic colour portraits of Brighton seafront. The pub also has outside seating and a newish looking rear conservatory. Friendly bar staff and a Sunday pub quiz are other good features of the PA, as it is known on its sign. Not too sure about the particularly loud music, though. (Spring 2004)

Friendly welcome, good beers and the best pub in this area for escaping from Western Road shopping hell.

Serves Harveys and London Pride. Usually good service. Traditional pub decor. Handy for Western Road shops - it's just behind McCrapburgers.
