@laughingduck - yup; and I remember the days they used to brew their own beers too. I still remember the day, passing thru Streatham again, with anticipation, and unwittingly walked into a laddos pub...

used to run this in the 70s,three ground level bars(fanny by gaslight, inside out and the eel pie bar i think),two downstairs bars(guilded cage and buggsy bar(that had coffins for tables)....great fun,and when you think it was rammed to the rafters every night, just goes to show what has happened to the pubs over the years...anybody who remembers those days...put a post....

Why is this place open??? I have never seen more than 10 people in here. Is nicely refurbished and usually friendly staff but no customers except people who have either got lost or who seem permanently lost.

First sign of civilisation on part four of my tour of the capital ring. Avoided mick jaggers pizza restaurant over the road and came to this huge, traditional looking pub. Very quiet on a thursday at 8pm but a very friendly bar man made time for a conversation. One of only 300 pubs selling stella black, in nice ceremonial glasses. Very tempted to add it to my collection :-). Comedy nights and banging tunes on a weekend, by the looks of the flyers.

Went in here the other Sunday for a roast dinner. It was OK, the dinner was nice, and the staff were friendly enough. It's all a bit sterile though, very newish-looking, with not much character. Also, there was some banging house music being piped out into the beer garden, which apart from me and my friends was populated by about 15 people who were over 50, so the music seemed wholly unsuited. But I'd happily drop in again for a pint if I was passing, although it was very quiet when I visited, so no idea what it's like on a busy night (if it ever gets busy).

well me and my friends (about 15 of us), went there for a birthday, and had an absolutely amazing time! the staff were pleasant enough, and the service with the food was good, and it tasted great.the music they play catered all our different tastes aswell which was quite surprising, a proper party atmosphere for us!! since then its become our local!!! lol, we're in there more than the staff are!! the beer gardens massive too, so we enjoyed the best of the so called 'british summer'!! i would recommend it, go there check it out and i bet you'll get addicted too!

Was a wicked night last Saturday they have a resident DJ every Saturday.
The Greyhound was packed, was a fun night highly recommended and they've got a new crowd in.

Unfortunatly this pub isnt how it use to be.We went in and was grunted at when ordering our drinks. There was only 2 other customers in there and there was no ambience about the place not a bad beer garden but wont be recommending to others or returning.

went in on friday night to have a look.

pro's - lots of space, massive garden, not bad beer selection, food looked nice

con's - indifferent, slow service, a bit empty looking, not much going on.

by contrast we went to the waterfront over the road afterwards and it was so much better. nicer atmosphere, great food and friendly bar staff.

Used to be a most wonderful pub when it brewed its own beer, times long since gone. No rating, just a bit of nostalgia and hope that others remember this.

I popped into THE GREYHOUND BAR yesterday
for its opening,
the place was buzzing with people,
The greyhound has got a stylish new look now!!!
(not how it was before)
The food was excellent
and the garden was packed.

I think Ive found my new regular.

Not a bad place for sport or to use the beer garden in summer. Not a real ale pub but pretty basic. Staff alright. Worse places to go though many say it's a dump.

It's possible it's changed recently , but last time I went in all the toilets were smashed up and there was a ruck in the public bar. beer wasn't all that although the staff were friendly , if a little quick to call time. Be very careful when going into the beer garden as there is a step in the same style as the surrounding patio making it hard to see , two serious accidents in the last 5 years.

What a difference! New managers have taken over and the changes are really beginning to show. The kitchen is fully functioning (the French chef is a whizz with a steak!), the music is changing, bands are being booked and some TLC is finally being given to The Greyhound!
P.S Lang Rabbie, I definately noted at least 2 bitters on the hand pumps......

Good beer garden and a large and airy pub. It does help if you are wearing a Chelsea shirt and covered in cheap looking "gold" jewellery. Burberry caps are optional (at this point anyway). Girls are required to pull the hair off their weasely faces into a top knot. Not bad beer and the Sunday lunch is a 7/10 and reasonably priced.
Dave - 20 Oct 2003 14:01
Good beer garden, and the Sunday roast still seems reliable, but the current selection of beers leaves a lot to be desired for bitter drinkers.
Lang Rabbie - 7 Sep 2003 13:26
Good pub. Nice beer, friendly staff, nice food, only gripe is music is crap, but all in all a good place to start an evening out, especially in streatham where there is no other pub nearby!
