Highest rating on this website of all pubs in Chorleywood so sought it out on Saturday afternoon as staying nearby. The bar area (etched "Tap Room" on the window) only seats about 10 people but there are tables outside overlooking the common. Other tables in the front of the pub were reserved for diners and there is a further restaurant to the rear. London Pride (£4) and Youngs Bitter (£3.70) are regular ales - I tried one of the £4 guests - Loose Cannon's English Brown Ale (didn't try the 3 Brewers English Golden Ale) - perfectly good enough condition but I couldn't make my mind up about whether or not I liked the taste. The landlord was quite chatty and friendly but did slip in the F-word when loudly discussing football with his regulars (for those who might be offended by such things....). Worth a visit.

Really can't fault the Rose & Crown, it's food is excellent and the bar although small is very welcoming even if you arrive with muddy wellies and a damp dog after a good walk around the common.

Called in for some lunchtime food, but I am not willing to pay evening time prices. Seemed a weird choice of posh nosh. Couldn't fault the beer range though.

Old fashioned is the word - beer was OK if not as good as the views of the Common.

lovely little pub. not expensive no annoying yobs or loud music.. very cosy and olde fashioned.. will definately go again.

This place is fantastic. One of the few pubs that can do wonderful food but still manage to keep all the things that a good pub should have - great beer, cosy atmosphere and a friendly welcoming landlord - PERFECT

My wife and I come down to Chorleywood from Bolton a couple of times a year, for a few days. We stay just down the road and the Rose and Crown is our local. It's a friendly pub with some decent beers. Of the local beers, Brakespeares is my favourite, but London Pride (or just 'Pride' to the locals), comes close. Food in the restaurant is very good, and popular, as there are always a lot of diners. Oh, and the lanlord is a character.

Small front or upper room with equally small bar with 4 handpumps, down some steps to the larger room at the rear which looked full of diners at 14:00 Sat. All seating upstairs was also taken and, since the space was not really conducive to drinking at the bar we were soon out by the chilly picnic sets out front. Youngs, Pride, Rebellion Double Agent, Gales Swing Low, tried the latter 2 which were both somewhat iffy. The guv was friendly enough and spotted my suspicious viewing of the hazy Rebellion, immediately offering to change it if not right it was claimed the barrel had gone & up came an alternative of Old Hooky from the cellar in a jug, but that was even cloudier. Possibly unlucky, and pub seems popular for food, but this wasnt the best start to a crawl.

Excellent food, good atmosphere and friendy locals (and dog!) What more could you want. The Barnsley lamp chops especially recommended. Now owned by the landlord/lady and a free house

Jeff & Rhonda who own the pub are wonderful hosts. The gourmet food is marvelous. Be sure to make reservations ahead of time. Check before you stay in their B & B next door as it needs a major overhaul. N.Webster

Fantastic.. Small pub on the edge of Chorleywood Common. Food to die for.. Take the tube out from Baker Street, bring the dog, have a good walk round the common and stop off at the Black Horse as well. Luch in either pub but make sure you book. What better way to spend a Sunday.

Exceptional home cooked food in a traditional atmosphere. Friendly service and one well kept real ale. 8/10.

Visiting from America we spent a wonderful evening at the Rose and Crown with friends from Croxley Green. We were surprised by their gourmet food and we enjoyed the pub surroundings. Two years later we returned for dinner and spent the night in their cottage next door. What a treat...now we are planning a trip next year including a week at the cottage and lots of meals at their restaurant.

fair sized pub but most of it is taken up by its restaurant so the actual drinking area is quite small. Was very cramped when we visited it and difficult to get served. Locals all seemed friendly (and affluent!).

One for a windy autumn afternoon and/or winter night, this small intimate pub features food of exceptional quality and friendly service. Remote for most visitors but a quality pub that lingers long in the memory.

Tenancy run pub, with a small front bar, real fire, good wines & real ales. 30 covers for home cooked food, this is the ultimate 'real british pub'. Well worth a visit out to the 'sticks'
