The water that runs by this pub both is and isn't a canal. It is thre river lea or lee, which has been canalised.

This pub is deceptive, outside looks like your ordinary boozer . But once inside you find a warm caribbean welcome. I went to this pub on a sunday afternoon with my boyfriend, we had been to a few other pubs earlier and was disapointed. We were greeted by friendly customers who were getting ready for a private party ( we were invited to stay ). The manager/ owner of the pub was friendly , service was good and the food on the BBQ outside was wonderful ( jerk chicken and pork ). All in all a lovely afternoon was had. This pub is a little slice of the caribbean in clapton. Go and try it .

the water that runs by both pubs is not a canal it is the river lea or lee which runs from luton and other places outside the great metropolis...

Better than its more favourably located neighbour, the Princess of wales.

Another old local of Buster Bloodvessel and his band, Bad Manners. The group downed many beers in this establishment in the late 80's.

Local boozer on the canal, next to the Princess of Wales. It may lack the Princess' airs and graces, but the beer is good, it's got a large beer garden, and a pool table to boot. My personal favourite of the two.
