Closed down. Now "fat face"

During the day this place is a crche and full of new mums drinking coffee and taking up most of the pub with prams and other baby related paraphernalia. You end up feeling about as welcome as a drunk at a kids party if you order a pint! On the plus side the bar service is fairly quick and if lager is your thing then this place rocks.

the food is brakes, but the staff are friendly and they do good deals on drinks at certain times

liked the bar a lot, friendly staff, good place for lunch not too expensive food is good. little expensive on the drinking side but to be expected.

Is so much nicer than the other branches I have been to. The layout of the bar and the food were great although the service was slow. I waited at the bar for about five minutes while two waitresses chatted and messed about on their phones which was fine as it was quiet but I'd hope that on the busier lunches they are more alert and quick to serve. All in all its a really nice night out, especially if you just want a chilled one. The cocktail list is pretty impressive and much more reasonably priced than somewhere like Old Orleans which is where I used to go for cocktails.

If its better than the one in Guildford (which isnt hard) I may visit sometime.

The wife and i enjoy the table service here. It looks like they have a new chef. Food before had been bad. It was brilliant last night. The tiger prawns were cooked to perfection and juicy. The rest of the meal was to the same high standard. The Johns Smiths tasted better because it was served to my leather sofa. I will return to cuddle up, drink and watch the world go by.

I have just got back from a night out in this bar, and i am very pleased that I didnt read some of the previous comments because they would have put me off. But i had a great night, the beer is a little on the expensive side but the service and atmosphere certainly make up for that. The food was great, the fact we got table service on a weekend night was amazing, and the place looked great. I spoke to the doorman and he informed me that they had just had a refurb, and it certainly shows...this will be local haunt for me

You been to one you have been to them all. Food is Good Service is Good and Larger is kept well. I do like poping in for the odd pint.

It's a very decent Slug and Lettuce, what can you say?
Decent crowd in there, staff always smiling and try to make it fun, very good clean food, excellent seating, and good quality wine and beer selection. Can suffer from being quite busy at weekends but hey, that's human interaction for you?

It is far too busy on the weekend, over-priced, there is a lack of seating for the number of patrons, the managers are very two-faced and pretentious and it is difficult to hear yourself think let alone talk on the weekends. The place becomes dirty and smokey as a result of its size since the staff can barely work on the floor with so many customers to get around.Even if you choose to patronise it for a quiet lunch it is hard to relax because the company's table service policy is overly pushy and you can barely finish your drink before being asked if you would like another one.

Can be quite pretentious, definately wouldn't go there in the evening on a weekend, but have been in for food during the week and breakfast. As said before, the food is good but the service is slow, they never appear to have enough staff on.

I have been visiting this place since it opened and must say that it is very friendly. The staff are very helpful and work long hours. Often they are still smiling after a 12 hour shift... The food is really good (much better than Parisa days)and the coffee is to die for. Great place for breakfast in the summer or to go and raise a glass or three with friends in the evening... AND THERE IS A BIG SCREEN FOR THE WORLD CUP....
|
Always decent food, pretty surprisingly good in fact. The service can be a little slow as they don't seem to have enough staff, but by no means a bad place.

Some of the reviews on here are a little unfair to say the least...
Been in there half a dozen times over the last few months. Good service, variety of drinks, half decent menu and most importantly a good crowd of 20/30 somethings all out to have a good time with no attitude.
Oh and very comfortable seating too

JUST LIKE WALKING INTO A HOLLY BUSH, YOUR SURROUNDED BY PRICKS.

The irony being that Chelsea and Putney are in many ways very similar to Godalming...
|
Awful, terrible, poor service, overpriced, full of knobs, noisy, smoky etc. This place was alright as Cafe Parisa but, it is downright awful now. The Slug & Lettuce is one of the worst 'trendy' pubs I have ever been to. This place belongs in Chelsea, Putney etc. NOT in Godalming - hope this place shuts down soon...
