Nice wood paneling, large Mock Tudor pub. Has ales but they were all Off when I visited. Seemed friendly enough, albeit dead.

As a "pikey" living on the "notorious" flowers estate I would take exception with Glen's views! The pub itself has gone downhill in recent years, as Ian stated, another landlord has recently been installed(and this brings back previously barred people)The new patron is trying very hard to get the Crown back to it's once superb stature, it's a very tough job, I hope she is sucessful.btw The Thai restuarant has since closed down.

This used to be a niceish pub but now i think its on its 3-4 new landlord in a year it gets rougher and rougher. Would avoid this place now. Last time i was in there some boke had his head put through the window next to us.

As a non-resident of the Flowers Estate I have never felt quite welcome in this pub, and once a nice old man at the bar let us know this by shouting at us as we left. Other than that decent selection of beers that taste ok, now includes some sort of Thai restaurant as well I believe. Don't play the 'underground' quiz machine you'll never win.

Not quite as bad as Glen made out, and probably better than The Gate unless you play pool. The beer's okay and Glen probably caught the staff on a bad night. But I've had trouble changing corked wine there in the past and the Stile, only a short distance, is better (and for some reason, busier).

Dispite advertising in various student publications, this pub can be extremly unwelcoming to students. Both staff and locals alike give the "you're not welcome here" look. Unless you're a pikey living on the nearby Flowers Estate, avoid this boozer.
