Ok for sudents not a place for grown ups!

I got married in that building, for a bit of local colour. Now my student daughter and her friends meet in there, so it's probably best avoided if you're over 25.

thomasgx1 - Firstly is there any proof to the accusation that they are watered down. Secondly watering down drinks is a very serious offence and trading standards can impose massive fines and shut premises down (in 2004 a premises in Gunwharf was shut down temporarily and fined 50,000). Thirdly in the case of draught beer, cider etc they come in highly preassurised containers so opening them incorrectly to pour in water for example is extremely dangerous and you would waste lots of the product. Fourthly also in the case of draught lager, cider etc it passes through a glycol system that is below 0 C the only reason the products do not freeze is because of the alcohol content. Fithly (if that is a word) the Reg is owned by Mitchells and Butlers Plc the biggest pub operator in the UK, you get a good deal because of their buying power, just because your getting a good deal don't mean you are being ripped off. I worked there when I was at uni (best job I have ever had) and the only complaints I have ever had is about Pepsi or lemonade which can sometimes run out of syrup either half way through a pint or when you are using it as a mixer. But this effects the taste and it is normally brought staright back an replaced. I have worked in about 10 different pubs and i have never known any watering down of drinks in any of them. I hope this answers your question.

would like to hear if there is any defence to the accusations of the beer being watered down.. ?

An old haunt when I was a student there, good cheap drinks and food, fun atmosphere and centrally located. Not everyone's cup of tea (not mine now either) but offers quite a lot of appeal for younger people and those on a budget.
|
best atmosphere is amzing great is you are a student out for a goood night with cheap drinks (yellow card!!!!!) drinks are not amzing little waterd down and not much in the way of verierty but who being fussy when its that cheap !!!
|
Is a good enough student place, but i'm afraid it'll have zero appeal to anyone over 21!! Students will love the place for sure though.check it out if you at Uni in Portsmouth.

Went in at the weekend and ordered a coke (pepsi) found it to be watered down and tasteless. Last time I went here was only because I had "won" a free pint of Stella... again watered down and tasteless.
Awful pub with no real drinks, but does cater for the student budget. Not too bad in the evening when there is some activity but only if you like your indie rock and lager.

A cheap, studentish place if you're into that sort of thing. Can be good for sport or live DJs and with a yellow card you're quids in.
Pool tables abound, although not brilliant quality and expensive at 1 a game. Nice selection of games machines...
Trouble is, the place does tend to get packed with very young folk (or is it me feeling old?!) who smoke far too much.

The reg is a great place for a lunchtime pint between lectures. The atmosphere is great especially on quiz nights

I loved this place a student. It had a great juke box, pool tables, unhealthy food and cheap beer. It was also 5 minutes walk from my halls. I will miss the Rg.

I'd say the staff back in 99 were better, and the champions league final was against Bayern Munich, with 2 goals in the dying minutes. It was a great match watched in a packed registry

This pub is amazing the best in Portsmouth by a long way!! the barman Benjamin Netten Yahoo is so fit and strong i can watch him pour pints all day!!!
The only drawback is the amount of Arsenal fans one in particular is about 6'5 and a real eyesore!!
Overall the pub is really coolio and the staff are lovely people!!!!!!!!

The Registry opened in 1999 not 2001. Man utd were playing Inter Milan in champions League. They won thanks to a great save by Peter Schemical.
