Indeed, as Edwardx points out, there is nothing really like it in the area: for which I'm profoundly grateful. Loud, overpriced and depressing: don't bother.

Nothing really like it in the area, but elsewhere it would be nothing special. Surprised to still see that it is in business - it really never gets very busy.

Hackney Central has done really well in providing a venue that Hackneyites in their manifold forms actually want to go to. Drink prices take the p*ss a bit, but with no competition for several miles, it's kind of fair enough. Open late just for boozing on weekends. Wicked Sunday lunch menu too.

finally I have found a place where I am able to have a conversation without having to shout over the music , very relaxed comfortable seating and good food.

Lovely interior - clearly a lot of money thrown at it - not sure they can justify their spirit prices in Hackney.

The beer selection is a bit of a disappointment - but it's relaxed and got those comfy sofas that I desire!

This is a brand new cavernous bar/club next to the train station and next door to the already established Central 1 bar on Amhurst Road. It opened at the end of October 2003 and has clearly cost alot of money. It serves very good food and cocktails but sadly, given the amount spent, no room has been found for any decent beer.
