Student night on a Monday night at the crown is brillant, the door staff and pub staff are great ! the dj plays various music and at �1 a drink you cant fall off ! wicked atmosphere, The only downside is as it starts to get busy its gets very hot and they dont have any air con, part from that its the place to be a monday night

The crown was fantastic on an monday night but now it's gone all commercial and plays dance music instead of the indie tunes.

Good pub can suffer for its sucess tho some nights its one out one in. Not much use if you are with a few people.
Sometimes pushes the student angle too much

Its a strange place.
Its great because:
Its a massive bar
Its open late
The drinks are cheap
The music is great
Its relaxed in terms of dress code
Its crap because
It gets incredibly full
It gets warm beyond belief
The drink quality is not very good.
Its dirty
The service is often slow.
(Not to say the staff are slow, they seem proficient at their jobs. The problam is the bar is long to an amazing extent. I have seen bars half its length with more staff working)
If you dont care about nice surroundings and you dont wan't to go home but you can't be botherd with a poncy or chavtastic club then this place would do fine.

its mint club,don't need to dress up,suits everyones needs. monday-pop to thursday rock and friday -indie and everything :D it also sells dble vodka/red devils my favourite drink:D

I went there for the first time last Thursday and I really liked it. The best night out I've had in ages!!

the service is only slow when its really busy, which can be said of any pub and ive seen much worse toilets in other bars in mbro. the best nites out are friday and monday. it has cheap drinks, v cheap entry, sofas, pool tables a dance floor, big screens, and they show live football matches, whats not to love? (theres even a quiz on mondays)

I worked for the England/Germany footy game a few years back and lost count at the number of Boro fans who yelled abuse, grabbed at me and spilt beer on me during that game, yet with only 10 staff we still sold �13k worth of beer in 3 hours. Slow service? I think not....

I love the Crown on Thursdays - music is brilliant, cheap drinks and good atmosphere! Live music is always appreciated, with a good selection of local bands such as Shot For Self Downfall who played recently. Excellent night out.

Fantastic night out spetialy on a Friday the only place in boro were anything gose on any night Plus cheep Vodka n Redbull on a Tuesday �1 for a single though it is gay night so the narow minded out there stear clear.

having worked there, i can say that reason certain people don't get served quick is because they are rude and abnoxious.waving a tenner in my face and shouting "ere" at me WILL NOT get u served any quicker.so stop whinging.

very slow service,poor staff. Never serve people in turn and if you dont know the barstaff you have no chance,sometimes have to wait over 20mins to get served.dirty toilets. If yourr not a student dont bother,

decent size but dont go there if you are a working non student as the two tier pricing is liable to offend the taxpayer or if your patience is limited as many of its customers even inpeak time pay by debit card slowing the whole job down

Sound Pub! had a few really good Saturday nights there lately, excellent music,cheap drinks. One hell of a Laugh!!!!

Excellent student pub, my (much younger) brother swears by it(bottled lager and alcho pops) but not a drinkers pub. If you want a decent pint then this is not for you.
