Seems to be even less of a pub than it was. It did have Black Sheep and Portobello Star on draught but neither were up to much.

They have made a big effort with a substantial garden area... have been to more than one session out there on the Adnams and have thoroughly enjoyed the place!

Good efficient service. Bit dull (no pool table, no music, tables too close together to use the dart board even if there was one)
The sort of place you're happy to go to after work but wouldn't want as your local, really.

Used to be known as The Pontefract Castle, nice pub with a great beer garden for this part of Central London. Get's very busy with local office workers early evening but generally a pleasant place for a pint, and a convenient meeting place if using Edgware Road Hammersmith and City tube station.

Went there yesterday with a load of friends. Friendly service and Aspalls on tap. Had a burger which was excellent. Not the place for you if you're a real-ale snob, but recommended to everyone else. Convenient for the tube too.

I think this used to be the Prince of Wales before being 'gastrified'. It isn't an unpleasant place but lacks the character and atmosphere which is a trait that befalls most 'gastropubs'. Seems ot have a GK link as only their IPA and St.Edmunds were available. The St.Edmunds was just about drinkable but not enough to warrant staying for a second pint.

It was busy tonight and with little or no soft furnishings or curtains, that does make talking etc difficult. Some convivial party in (a birthday?) - loud and friendly. The service was good, and Greene King IPA and Adnams Bitter both pretty reasonable.

Visited this past Friday evening and saw no evidence of bad service or poor atmosphere. Noticed many of those posts were from 2005, so possibly the management has improved it. Given the proximity to the Edgware Road tube station, found it convenient for a few pleasant pints.

I don't know what this place is like when it's heaving in the post-work rush but on a Sunday, when you can get a table and take your time it really is superb.

We had three different meals there and they were all excellent; really well cooked, not too pretentious and although not cheap, not overly expensive.

I'd definitely go there again at an 'off time' to enjoy the beer, the wine and the food and chat with friends.

its not bad.

a bit prissy and posh for what it actually is, but the beers are good and if you dont go on a night when it is heaving, it is not bad.

agree it takes too long to get served mind.

I can only assume that the previous visitors to The Chapel have been on a bad night. I've always found the service to be fine and the food is without doubt amongst the best 'pub food' you'll find in London. It's always busy in the evenings until about 8ish, later on Fridays as the office crowd stop by for one or six on the way home. There's plenty of seating, a beer garden and did I mention the food? Go in on Sunday for the roast pork. Weekends are incredibly quiet. I often take my kids in there for lunch. I'm really surprised at the negative posts for this pub, honestly, give it a chance.

Absolutely Shocking service. This is probably one of the nicest pubs in the Marylebone area with great beer, wine & food but this does not compensate for the atrocious attitude towards customer service of the bar staff.

Have to agree about the staff, lazy, arogant and unknowledgable. However, the food is pretty good, even if there is no seperate eating area, therefore very smokey on evenings. If you are having a leaving do they will reserve an seperate area where you and your mates can gather without talking to the locals :)

Without doubt the worst pub I have ever been in. My experiences in this pub vary from frustration to sheer hatred. The bar staff take ages and are extremely rude when they bother to serve you. They genuinely don't care about any of the customers. The layout of the pub is very thin and results in the queues at the bar spilling into peoples tables. I haven't been in during the day so can't comment about that but in the evenings its full of post-work "one or two drinks" people. The atmosphere is very pretentious. This pub really is a joke.

I met up with some friends here because it is near Paddington Station. What a dump! All the tables were in straight rows, making it look like a cemetry - it was as dark and gloomy too! The barman thought that he was doing me a favour by serving me and had a huge attitude problem. They don't sell crisps or nuts - "You can have a bowl of olives or a bowl of oatcakes" said the barman. The oatcakes were 2 and the bowl would've struggled to hold half of a Weetabix. All in all a very pretensious pub. (Hint - the Beehive is round the corner and much, much nicer.)

Used to frequent this pub a few years back, and the menu did look extremely good. They served pints in proper long glasses, and you were never short of pistachio nuts from what I can remember!

expect great food at this gastro; i had an unbelievable roast chicken last weekend w/well prepared sides; all for a respectable 9 or 10 pounds.
