Backstreet pub in Whitmore Reans with a traditional interior. Inside there are a number of rooms. At the rear are the outdoor gents toilets and a bowling green. It was quiet on our Saturday lunchtime visit, especially considering it was a matchday. The ale choice was not quite as good as I was expecting either - Courage Best, Oakham Citra, Timothy Taylor Landlord, Wye Valley HPA & Butty Bach & Sharp's Doom Bar. I was hoping for a real cider. But there was none available. We did get a CAMRA discount on half pints here though and the interior makes it worthy of a visit.

Happy Hour YOU WHAT!! I was happy untill i went in there. i was sat in a empty bar and was waiting to be served at 1856 and after the bar staff stopped there chit chat and decided to serve me it was 1 minute after 7 and there for they wanted to charge me full wack of 3 pound 50. excuse me but whats with the attitude cause i wasnt going to pay the extra pound youd rather dash it down the sink and lose out on 3.50 instead. And then look at me like im in the wrong. naaa you lot have got it all wrong

Can get very busy of a weekend. Food is good if you like a good carvery. Beer choice is good and a good busy, friendly atmosphere. Good to go out to with the family for a few.

Busy Victorian suburban pub with large number of rooms and a bowling green. Beer at 3.50 a pint is a expensive for the area, but made up for in part by pretty good home made pies and chips at 3.25. The beer Enville Ale was in good condition tho'.

Update on my previous visit Thatchers Heritage 2.75 per pint decided to visit the beer garden next to the delightful pavilion by the bowling green unfortunately our visit was ruined at approximately 5.30 on Monday 26 April 2010 by a large group who started fighting, women screaming and crying the incident got very unpleasant that my wife and I were investigating ways of leaving and left as soon as an escape route could be found
|
Excellent pub - Thatchers Heritage 2.52 a pint was great - open fires was really welcoming from the freezing weather outside. Coronatiom chicken crusty cobs and 'real' chips for 1.75 was very tasty.

Best Pub in Wolves, there isn't really anywhere else worth drinking. I'd prefer they had some more micro's on rather than Theakstons/Fullers but that's just my preference, the Landlord has always been spot on. The interior and garden are both great, nice place to be....

From the outside, this looks really good. The pub has been repainted, great beer garden with flowers and old style lamposts. Sadly, inside the pub is in need of a spruce up, but the leather seats and tables are clean. The service was fine and friendly.
Usual stuff, though no MILD at all, but I didnt walk out! i tried a few of the 7 real ales they had on; Deuchars IPA, Timothy Taylor Landlord (very nice), London Pride, Wye Valley HPA, Slater's Top Totty (not my cup of tea - get the Monkey Magic on!), Courage Directors and Best.
It seems over the years to have gone downhill a bit, hope it can improve - a MILD would help.

I love this pub - coal fires in winter, a good range of usually well-presented ales. BUT I went in there yesterday - the glasses smelt of bleach and the fish and chips I had was frankly disgusting.
I hope this was just an off day...

Cosy, old, Real open coal fires, nice outdoor area and garden, good ales, good food, real chips, bowling green for hire with events pavilion, A very long term favourite for about 35 years. Quiet side road.

Nice place this. Friendly locals especially Jimmy. xx

Great news, the old landlord is back in place and I and my friends are delighted! The quality of the beer is back on top - really excellent. The atmostphere is second to none as as the landlord's standards - a real professional who likes his customers, of all ages and walks of life and who also takes a pride in providing wonderful beer. Long live the Newhampton Inn!

I started my crawl at this pub catching a 501 bus. Enjoyed my half of Landlord and a look round the rooms. There is choice of real ales and a friendly atmosphere.

It has to be said it is a good pub. However it is overpriced and most of the time you are lucky to get served. This is not due to the fact it is too busy but the staff seem to have an amazing knack to not see customers! And if you do catch their eye they may not help as you (the customer) are not in their zone!!!!! The food used to be good but the menu changed and the food dropped to average and expensive. On the positive the people are very friendly and has a good atmosphere and the garden is great in the summer - beer varies inn quality depending on who looks after iT.

This is the best pub in Wolverhampton by a mile. The service is always excellent and the range of beers on sale is always great. It's out of town, but well worth the walk.
|
A pub with something for everybody, and a real draw despite being in the middle of nowhere. I whiled away many a happy hour here when I was supposed to be studying.
|
Always pretty busy especially weekends, regular haunt for beer lovers and people watchers alike!
A mile from the city centre, usually one mile too far at the end of the night ....

Having been in pubs, bars and clubs all over Europe and some further afield I have to say the Newhampton is one of the very best; down to earth, friendly, chilled, great beer, good pub decor, chilled beer garden and full of charm. The Newhampton has more of a soul to it than ANY of the pubs or bars I've been in during the last 5 years in London

This a lovely old-fashioned pub inside, and the beers are always bright and well-served. The guest beers are varied and ever-changing. If you want a real drinkers pub, this is your place.
