Nice little pub hidden away behind the busy Victoria bus station A fair selection of real ales and the usual Peroni and Amstel lagers but they served Guinness which is my tipple so that suited me Bar staff were friendly but it seems cruel to have portraits on the wall and a real ale and a suite named after a “man” who beat an innocent young woman to death and half succeeded in doing the same to his wife Perhaps the Sandra Rivett suite would be more appropriate in this great little establishment

A Spirit Group 'Taylor Walker' brand pub (ie Nicholsons done on the cheap) but a cut above the norm. This is where Lady Lucan fled to raise the alarm and although she wouldn't recognise it now, it is still a pleasant pub. Unlike some reviewers I had great service on a busy early evening, and a great pint of the guest, Harveys.

Nice pub if you like your ale poured from the slops tray into your pint glass by the barmaid as witnessed from the window last friday. Am sure it happens but i have never actually witnessed it before. Spoke to the manager who seemed genuine in his response but equally culpable....i mean why would a barmaid think it is OK to do that???!!! she topped this by getting on her high horse when my (admittedly worse-for-wear)mate knocked over her barrier outside.
Will very definitely not be rushing back and would make no recommendation that you do either....

Met up with some work colleagues for a few beers last night and all was going well till we decided to finish off our beers outside - as was getting busy where we were seated. As we were standing up to go out, a woman who later identified herself as the manager, was pushing past us to clear the table. I remarked that if she could hold on a little bit whilst we vacated the area then it would be easier for all concerned, and her response was rude, aggressive and down right bad mannered, and worst of all had the view she was in the right, when clearly it was not a case of who was right, more the principle behind the event and was physically in our way and making it inconvenient for us to vacate the seating area, further enhanced as was near the toilet area, and main reason we decided to move outside Be wary if you venture here and come across theis unhospitable "manager", a nice pub, but totally spoilt by the "manager". I certainly wont be rushing back

Now this is a pretty great pub. Not totally convinced about the layout but the emphasis (everytime I've been in) is on getting the real ale served right and that the punters are happy. Two watchwords and thinking ideas for others to follow I shouldn't venture. I used to attend meetings here and the ale and selection was always good. You do get a variety of customers inc. high profile types, heavy businessmen(women) types, ale connoisseurs, visiting foreigners and tourists, blokes and totty on the pull. I've even seen members of the cloth and other faiths in there. I've had the Youngs Bitter last time in and it was most satisfactory. At a bit less than 3 a pint isn't bad and the service was good behind the bar and the girl glass collecting was doing a fine job. The plasce gets busy regularly so the seating can be a bit of a havoc at times and the tiny gents toilet downstairs is a bit strange but it works. I would agree that it is not very Belgravia & more Victoria but there are several worse pubs in the Victoria area. my attention was disturbed as some business dressed woman kept eyeing me up and offering views down her shirt - it didn't make the beer taste any better but it was fantastic to see 100 great sporting moments flash thru my grey inertia while the man hunter shaked her tail.

Went back here not so long ago and had a great time. This pub just gets better and better, will definately return. Nice atmosphere, great beer and good staff too
|
Youngster Gold on draft, well kept, nice beer, nice atmosphere. Good pub.
|
Good local pub, with decent beer and friendly staff.
Worth a visit if near to Victoria Station, as it is not like the usual rubbish boozers you find near a terminus.
|
in the past i have only been here for drinks and always found it very friendly and nice and clean. today i had lunch with a colleague here and this was the first time i had food at this nice cosy place. i had steak which was nice, tender and tasty and my colleague had fish and chips with mushy peas which was also good - all of this washed down with a glass of cold lager, not bad at all - definitely worthwhile a visit.

I've enjoyed going to this pub over the years that I have lived in Victoria. Good beer and pleasant atmosphere. However landlady has moved on, so i've no idea what it is like now

Visited on a Friday afternoon for lunch & a pint before getting a train from Victoria station. Beer was very nice - I had a pint of 'Horn Dance'. The food is horrible though. My 'Falafel Burger' was a soggy, microwaved veggie burger, which was served with a miserly portion of about 8 chips. My hubby's fish & chips was of a similar standard. When I ordered I was asked if I wanted garden or mushy peas with the fish and it turned up with neither!

This is now a pretty ordinary unremarkable pub. But they did have a few real ales on London Pride; Adnams Broadside; Youngs Bitter; and Holdens Horn Dancer. I had the Youngs Bitter, which tasted like it was supposed to, at a bit less than 3 a pint. I thought that this was a fairly gloomy pub, although it has to be said that my visit was on a very gloomy day. The gloominess was not helped by the large adverts on the windows that cut out more of what daylight there was. Seating was normal tables and chairs, and it was carpeted throughout. I saw a games machine and a cigarette machine. There may have been a one armed bandit lurking somewhere, but I didnt spot it. There was a TV screen on one of the walls, but switched off, with a mirror underneath it displaying the flag of St George. Some pop music was being played, but this was drowned out largely by the air conditioning. All in all not very Belgravia; more Victoria. But there are several worse pubs in the Victoria area, and several far better pubs in Belgravia. Im not likely to make the effort to return, unless I just happen to find myself passing and fancy a pint.

Image 4 is the best photograph of this pub. Image 1 is in fact of the Swag & Tails. I have asked for Image 1 to be removed.
|
Reasonable pub, just a short walk from Victoria (and certainly rather better than most of the others near the station). The London Pride was off, but the Youngs 'Ordinary' was fine.
|
Always been a good bet to go to from Victoria station. Simply a nice, proper working, friendly pub.

This pub is closed, all day, on Saturdays and Sundays.
|
Agree this is a fairly unremarkable pub except for its notoriety. At 9.45pm on the night of 7th November 1974, a distressed and bloodstained woman burst into the bar. She was the Countess of Lucan, who had fled from her home at number 46, leaving behind her three children.
The London Pride was ok and food reasonable for Belgravia but there are better pubs around in a fairly 2thin" area of good pubs.
|
Fairly reasonable, but unremarkable, pub close to Victoria Station. My visit was noteworthy only for a rather abysmal pint of Pride and a sighting of the England Rugby player, Brian Moore, at the bar.
|
Another "first" for me. Previous reviews persuaded me to try it.On walking up the street towards the pub, the place looked absolutely full as there were twenty or thirty people out on the pavement enjoying their drinks in the evening sunshine. However, there was plenty of room inside and my friend and I even got a seat. Friendly bar-staff and a pleasant atmosphere made this a good first pub of a mini-crawl for us, so much so that we stayed for a second pint instead of moving on.
|
A favourite with the boys. Small but good beer and decent food. There is a small upstairs area if downstairs gets too crowded.
|
A fairly decent little pub. It was a bit cramped in there (especially for a Tuesday) and very, very smoky (bring in the ban now I say) but it had a buzz about it and felt lively. The bar staff were pleasant, although Caledonian 80/- was the only stand-out ale from Youngs, Pride and Bombardier.
Never had much luck finding pubs around Victoria, but this would be a place I would go again.
|
this pub has everything going for it. great beer; friendly staff; amazing range of clientele; reasonable food and telly on in the background. 9/10

Hi BobbyV,
You are correct. It is the "Lady Lucan" pub. And a very good pub it is too!
|
Good pub and good beer. Worth a visit if your in the area. On a historical note I think this was the pub Lady Lucan ran to for help after escaping from her husband. Can any expert confirm this or correct me?
|
This pub boasts a real(ish) fire which, on a February night, is as welcome as real ale. Talking of which... ...the ale was fine (I sampled Caledonian Six Nations which was great). In all, I think there were four ales on tap.
It was a busy night and the place appeared to be full of estate agents which was alarming. That apart it was a welcoming watering hole in the wilderness of Victoria.
|
the upstairs is quaint, like being in someone's own sitting room, ok pub.
|
Cracking pub. Good beers, decent food. TV, music. Function room. Nice bar staff. This place has the lot. It's fairly traditional in terms of layout, but if you want modern decor and cocktails you're missing the point.
Best pub in the area by a country mile.
|
It's a bit of a 'take it or leave it' sort of place. OK but nothing special. Doesn't leave much of an impression.

I found this pub to be a bit of a disappointment, given the comments that have been posted before this one. The beer was good, but the service was poor - there were only two people behind the bar when we visited last night. They were working flat out, but there were just too many punters for them to keep up with. Would be willing to give the pub another visit, but only at a quieter time.
|
Good beer. Excellent bar staff - polite, speedy and friendly. Well done to the licensee, whoever they are. Pub is pretty grotty and desperately needs a sensitive refurbishment, however.
|
pretty good - excellent beers, even an amusingly named euro 2004 one (can't remember the name, probably had too many). even got a seat which seems to be a small miracle anywhere round london in the evening!

Great pub, very friendly staff and excellent beer. Either London Pride or Bombadier always on plus guest ales.

Infamously, a bloodstained Lady Lucan burst into this pub on November 7th 1974 moments after being attacked by the murderer of her nanny.

Worked in Victoria for 10 months, so this was like my local. Friendly staff, excellent Guinness, what more could you ask?

Good locals pub with nice exterior. I was served a flat pint of lager but they were very apologetic. Music was miserable but otherwise a nice atmosphere.

Terrific pub. Slightly off the beaten track so gets less crowded than some of the other ones near to Victoria Station.
