Bland soulless chain eatery (though not many were eating). Poor choice of ale not worth risking.

Hadn't been here for a time but was hungry and fancied a pint.
Had heard that they do cask beer now and found that Moreland's Golden Hen was on offer. Unfortunately it had hit the bottom of the barrel so switched to GK IPA which was average at best.
The food left a lot to be desired so doubt if I'll be returning as there are a lot of better pubs in the area which is a pity because it's a good looking pub in a decent area and a good location.
I expect they probably make enough money on a Friday and Saturday night when it's full of lager / alcopop drinking kids.

OK for a quick pint after getting off train, but would avoid weekends, when it's seriously chaved up with groups of plonkers strutting their stuff looking for trouble.

Station pub with a lot of rush hour commuter trade. In the evenings, it's full of noisey kids.
No cask ales but the Ruddles keg wasn't bad and at 2:15 a pint affordable.

Have had some half decent nights in here but I'd put that down to having good mates rather than being in a good pub! Cannot believe that a pub of this size with two large bars still can't be bothered to serve decent real ale. States outside that it's a Greene King pub, but sadly the only things attempting to be ale are IPA Smoothflow and Ruddles Smooth, both ice cold. Poxy. Come on guys, you really could do better.

The bar prices are also very steep, considering it's not exactly a struggling backstreet local. Gets pretty packed with flat caps and tracksuits, which is never a winner really is it? Ok to visit if you need to meet your mates and they're already there, but I wouldn't bother otherwise.

A station pub can serve a valuable purpose to ease the pain after a torrid train journey! Yet, they are of course, not solely there just for the benefits of the stressed commuter, they generally tend to have their own set of regulars and The William Camden (opposite Bexleyheath train station) is no exception. Its a large establishment, split in two, with one having pool tables and the other having the obligatory fruit machines and plasma screens to keep those within entertained. Its quite open spaced and that doesnt sit too well with me. It was a keg only affair at the bar, so opted for Guinness. I visited last Wednesday (19th March) around 5-ish; the bar I was in was probably half-full, though I suspect it fills up when all the London workers start to pile off the train. Overall, as station pubs go, I found it to be okay and I would stop for a beer again, yet it isnt a place to make a specific trip too.

A pub full of neanderthals, if that's not too disrespectful to our ape-like ancestors. Fine for a game of pool unless you win, in which case you're likely to leave with a pool cue rammed up your posterior by one of the friendly regulars. A place which any decent human being would wish to be vaporised, preferably while it's packed full of the regulars.

Regarding.....
"havent been there for about 10 years, whats it like now? Last time i went it seemed it was a case of "your not from round 'ere are ya".
Not going there for 10 years is the best recommendation I could make for this 'Geezer' Chav-pit
"your not from round 'ere are ya" was the feeling I got too.

Comment to cafc - the doorman are all ex criminals???? And this is your opinion based on what exactly??? You really ought to check your facts as doorman have to be registered with the SIA which isn't possible if they are ex-cons. Or are you miffed cos you couldn't pull?

I quite liked this place. Wouldn't choose to go out drinking in Bexleyheath generally if I didn't know people there, but was very pleasantly surprised. Door staff have a sense of humour, unlike the dehumanised humourless types you often get, and the beer's reasonably priced (apart from the stella!). Was fortunate enough to be there on what the barman described in no uncertain terms as one of the quietest nights he'd ever seen, and I get the impression it's usually one of the busier places of a weekend, altho I also got the impression it's the place many people go for a livener before hitting London due to it's proximity to the station. Got pool table and a decent (predominantly!!) jukebox, although the toilets are somewhat on the small side for a pub which gets pretty rammed of a weekend. Would certainly go back, however.

LOVE THIS PUB, full of pleasent regulars. Staff are always really nice and friendly, particularly Pete who is a complete diamond and Ed who is jus a legend! Great place for watching the footie or playing pool! Has the best Karaoke nights and a good pub quiz on sunday!!! It is well and truely the best place to be any night of the week!

Nice pub these days, used to be a bit nasty but they've turned it around. Best place for pool tables in bexley, they have a decent selection of tipples and the staff are plenty nice.

Crap pub, too hot, full of idiots, doormen are all ex criminals. beers flat and warm. Petes alright behind the bar tho, that old fella' needs to retire.

My local pub, the best pub in Bexleyheath. Full of plesent people, good pool players and the beer for miles. its got wicked doormen, brilliant and hard working managers and the best staff around!

Great pub located next to the station, good atmosphere - staff leave something to be desired tho! Good place for meeting up with your mates for a drink. Regulars are friendly, get in there early if you fancy a game of pool, all 5 tables are usually busy. Shame there's no more DJ on a Friday night but there's a good pub quiz on a Sunday night usually about 9pm. Despite having a family room which leads to the garden they could really do with having some entertainment or something to keep the kids busy - a pool table perhaps? Especially in the summer. I agree with the last comments about the doormen, absolutely LUSH, even if they are married!!! Always polite and welcoming - take note bar staff! They could do with extending their license - maybe til midnight on Friday's and Saturday's.

With double opening doors at the front through car park, entering you will note 2sides of this big pub to ur left a quiet, spacious bar with plenty of seats, fruit machines, televisions and through the back a family room, to the right upon entering(my fav)another big bar with seating,Dj box, lots of machines,Touchscreen dukeboxand 5 pool tables! friday nights always DJ'd. pleasent but do think a later license would be appreciated, oh n lovely doormen!
BBRymz - 11 Feb 2005 15:30
It's not a bad pub, especially for Bexleyheath - pool tables, big screen football, Golden Tee, a Golden tee-style Bowling game, quiuz machine, choice of lagers, I like it. What brewery does this pub belong to?
Aaron - 30 Aug 2004 12:19
......Oh and the beer maybe a bit pricey, but its the best pint of Stella you'll get in bexleyheath.
Nick - 25 Mar 2004 13:28
My Local, you go here for beer, pool, music, and socialising. Regulars pub granted, it's a brilliant place to start the night, right by the train station (town visits etc), bus stop just up the road, and bags off take aways and resteraunts all down the road.
Nick - 25 Mar 2004 13:24
Used to be full of locals, now empty except when footie on the big screen. Drinks far too expensive. Family room nice idea but two tv's in there which show football and other sports so mostly used for sports fans. Not much in there for children to do, could do with some games or video's for then to watch. Used to be a great pub years ago where you could get a nice pub lunch now not so much as a cup of coffee. Just been decorated pity new ideas for entertainment and food didn't come along as well.

Ian, don't you know that football shirts and baseball caps are the uniform of south London? Chav culture rules!
Sally - 23 Feb 2004 21:57
Oh dear! Haven't got a football shirt or a baseball cap? Well don't worry they must hand them out to people when they enter this place. Only for very thirsty drinkers who have just fallen off the train, and are too desperate to wait.
Ian - 29 Jan 2004 19:16
Not a great fan of this place - too many 'geezers'
