Beautiful pub in a lovely village not far outside Wisbech, the one drawback is the ale which is kept to a very disappointing standard. We had to return a pint of Wherry after my friend - a local - had warned of previous experiences. A shame also to see Elgood's unrepresented while Greene King IPA is sadly on the roster. Still, a pub quiz was enjoyably delivered and the locals are friendly.

Village pub with Greene King Abbot and Woodforde Wherry on cask. Latter was end of barrel but landlord came and whisked away our pints and replaced them. Food was OK - generous portions. Pop music a little intrusuve but trying to appeal to wide range of customers.

I hadn't frequented this pub for many years until recently having had a reputation as a poseurs pub, so Ok for those with big cars and little d*cks but not much else. Thankful to say it has improved 100% and the ales, though nothing to get excited about, range wise were very good on the couple of occasions I have visited. Keith the current landlord is well known in the Wisbech area so don't expect a full pint !

Is it Tony Martin's local pub or is there one in Emneth Hungate?

The Sportsman is one of the few pubs in the area that offers quality real ale. I was very impressed with the way the landlord had kept his beer and even more impressed with the taste!
The Sportsman offers its regular real ales such as Courage Directors and Bass, but also offers guest ales such as IPA, Moorlands, Bombardier, Ruddles county and seasonal beers.

I recently visited The Sportsman on a Wednesday evening where they were holding their weekly quiz. I found this most entertaining, with the landlord making hillarious jokes and enjoying my meal at the same time. A good time was had by all.

The Sportsman is a livley village pub in the heart of the rural village of Elm. It iffers excellent quality food at reasonable prices. The staff are friendly, as are the locals.
The Sportsman offers a wide variety of beers, including real ale and on a Saturday evening The Sportsman holds entertainment in the form of live bands, karaoke, comedians and many more live acts.
Everyone who visits The Sportsman will want to go back as they will have such a good time, feel made welcome and enjoy their pint or meal.
