Handy little spot to meet near Canonbury station. Good selection of food and beers. Quiz nights etc. Chanced the Guinness and was pleasantly surprised, pulled Dublin style and allowed to rest before finishing off with a nice creamy head. Bar staff should put their phones away and look interested in customers Disappointed to see a few people walk in and out because of this. Overall though well worth a call

Popped in just before 9pm on a Thursday evening and the place was heaving.
Good quality food was on offer with most people eating or had eaten
4 ales on....Redemption Pale Ale, Shepherd & Neame Spitfire, Otter Ale & Darkstar Hophead also 1 cask cider and 2 in boxes behind the bar and continental lagers like Peroni.
Good decor and the old fashioned jukebox is a great talking point, however this pub is far too trendy for me, in fact it’s uber blinking trendy!
The Snooty Fox is a fairly upmarket pub, verging on the gastropub market, with its open kitchen that specialises in chicken. The decor is trendy. There is an old jukebox and a DJ area. Ales were Revolutions Kurt & Courtney IPA, Otter Ale, Redemption Trinity & Hook Norton Lion. Ciders were Dorothy's Orchard Dry & Cider By Rosie. This is a typical pub for this area. There are so many just like it. But at least it did a couple of different ciders. So I will give it a 6/10.

Reviews are always polarised on this site, and my review leans to the extremely positive. The decoration is really lived-in and ecclectic, not in the Antic haphazard defunct junk style but more in the style of well loved icons and icons who me and my friends could not identify. The lovely bald bartender did help us out with a few though! We go regularly for great ales and rotisserie chicken, and a proper relaxed neighbourhood vibe. Not many like this in London. Top 5 for me. Mint.

Walked out of here 5 minutes ago after having made a special visit to come here. There was a couple sitting in the corner and me. Totally ignored by the bar staff and got fed up with waiting. They acknowledged me as I started to leave and said to them that they should finish their conversation as it was probably far more important than paying customers.
It was a shame because they had a good selection of ales and would have been to spend some serious money but what can you do when they won't serve you? Won't be returning.

A pleasant but identikit modernised North London pub in the Antic style, with the usual beers (OK but nothing special quality wise), with an interesting chicken spit roasty the only distinguishing feature.
First visit to this corner pub which is almost opposite the railway station. Very pleasant interior in the modern "pub/kitchen" style (wood floors;old furniture; large windows;pastel colours and ecletic pictures;theatre kitchen and 4 handpumps (we enoyed the Standard Bitter from the new Cronx Brewery - which apparently is where Croydon meets The Bronx!!) They also had Redemption Trinity; Otter Ale and a beer/whisky brew from Brains. Our beers were £3.60 which I thought was fair considering the lager and speciality beers were touching £5.00 !! Excellent service and the food wasn't bad either. In fact we liked this pub so match we returned after the walk back from The Emirates (about 20/25minutes away). Friendly home fans. I would recommend this pub - worth missing a train for.
Wonderful pub. Great atmosphere. Good beers (from small London brewers), and fresh food - about 9 main meals. Beers quickly changed. Good place.
I went to this pub a month or so ago during the day. A pleasant looking place which I suppose given London prices now was not too bad.
I had a pint of Guinness which went down a treat. Only stopped for one as we were off into town but would definately return
Very good pub - decent service, excellent beers, nice atmosphere. Always seem to find the days/times when its packed out, but won't complain.
I rea;;y like this place! It's never packed and never too quiet - just right for the local crowd. The menu is limited but the food is served promptly and is good. The staff are very helpful.
I really like this place. Got a great feel about it. Never too overcrowded either. The retro jukebox is a treat with a few really choice tunes. The staff are always helpful & the beers cold which is a plus. Have never tried the food but have been told by one or two its good nosh. Highly recommended
I visited for the first time Saturday early evening. Absolutely superb and thanks to all for their help. Echo Jim's comments about the friendliness and love the retro jukebox and photos. I will definitely return, W Croydon to Canonbury - simple!
Visited on Friday for the beer festival, and went back again yesterday for more. As GuideDogSaint says would like to return on a normal day. First impressions were fine, friendly service and pleasant range of customers.
In for the beer festival on the Thursday evening. Four handpumps but I think they all had festival beers so can't give the range. Standard festival prices were 3.50 per pint (50p discount for CAMRA members, seems there is a normal 20p per pint CAMRA discount). Service was fine. Recommended although would like to visit on a non festival day.
They have an real ale festival called Carry On Up The Snooty Fox starting on Thursday 6th October until Sunday 9th October. 25+ ales from all over the country including a special beer from Redemption called Roadrunner.
Award winning beer journalist and author Pete Brown is hosting a special beer quiz there on the Thursday night! Should be good fun. Also DJs and comedy on the Sunday night!
See you there!

Thought I'd hate this place but actually quite liked it!
First visit yesterday afternoon. The place is very nice, great old style jukebox, four real ales on - the Redemption Pale Ale was very good. The service was friendly and quick. Happily pay this a longer visit next time.
The previous reviewer will be pleased to hear the "amoeba" of a barman is no longer working there. A couple of ales were on offer - I went for the "Landlord" which was very tasty. Addlestone's cider was also very enthusiastically consumed. A nice pub, the food looked good as it was being delievered to other customers and I'll certainly be going back if I'm in the area.
This is well overdue a review. A lovely little place off the beaten track.
Such a shame that both times I have been there I have been served a crap pint of Master Brew (T Taylor 'off' both times) by an insubordinate ameoba of a barman. I would really like to go back and try the food but this may result in me glassing the little sh*t. I think I will take a deep breath and have a go because it has potential as a venue and the menu looks promising if they can deliver. However the service here can and will spoil your visit, and as such, a 3/10 is awarded.
Really good food and nice pub overall. Could do with more bitters on tap though and a bigger range of crisps and pig snacks!
The old fashioned juke box is BRILLIANT
Like this pub a lot but they really should sort out their staffing levels, several times I've waited over 15 minutes to be served! Last sunday lunchtime there was just one barmaid with a pub full of families eating and trying to pay for their pub lunch, constant queue and a 20 minute wait get 2 pints of Landlord
Great pub with decent selection of ales - Deuchars and Landlord - and a great sunday roast, perfect for a dark winter sunday afternoon.
Cool place. Deuchars IPA on tap. Nice looking Wurlitzer juke box with very limited selection. Big soft sofas, but the layout of the seating is awful. One of the better places in the area though.
very cosy - easy to stay for far longer than intended.... hic!

Great little local, different enough from the norm to be interesting, maybe not the slickest run bar on earth but all the better for it. food is good, tastes like real home cooking. music great and beer if fine. maybe not as comfy or cosy as it should be but worth a stroll to.
what can you say? top. Everything you'd like in a pub. warm, friendly staff. Great beers. Insane juke box and movies on repeat. Last night, we watched the stones' rock and roll circus on the big screen.
c'mon Jethro Tull
Nice pub. Slightly alarmed that there appeared to be a corpse an one of the tables last night.
Quite a nice pub. Was quiet on a Saturday nights at about 8pm when myself and herself popped in for a drink. Only stayed for the one, but it was fine as was the little beer terrace on the side.
I love love this pub. The food is lovely, the menu perfect - including roasts on Sunday. The decor is relaxing, functional and stylish. On my visit there the girl on the bar was very nice, and helpful and we had a wonderful time chilling out, listening to good music and hanging with cool, relaxed people.
This pub should be great - from the music to the decor it ticks all the right boxes however the service and the staff are absolutely rubbish! Made the mistake of visiting on Saturday and won't be going again. Not only was the white wine foul and warm but when I made the mistake of pointing this out to the barmaid and asking for another glass she looked at me like I was insane. What you dislike your white wine warm and vomit inducing?? The entire visit to this pub was made my last by a barmaid who seemed to think that behind the bar was the last place she should be and when she did appear proceeded to act as if serving us drinks was a huge inconvenience. Based on this visit not recommended.
Nice pub, mental landlord, ok food - bizarrely a hang out for quite a few celebs.
Visited this pub last night for the open mic session which was pretty good. Nice spacious pub with a good choice of ale (Bombadier, Speckled Hen), and a small yet pleasant outdoor seating area where one can view the 'interesting' local residents.
Landlord Stuart, who also owns some other equally quirky establishments around town, is only an occasional visitor to planet earth but drifts around feeding the retro jukebox and screening the occasional ancient movie. The well-run quiz nights and occasional gypsy jazz evenings are well worth a journey, although the same cant be said of the open mic nights an acquired taste IMHO. I havent tried the food, but it looks OK, and the drinks are acceptable, if pricey. There is a good mixture of sofas, tables and barstools. The main fault is an insufficiency of barstaff waits of ten minutes or more are not unusual while the single representative busies himself with food orders and cask changes. Walkouts are no means uncommon, which must make poor business sense even in the world where Stuart lives.
Used to be a dump but under new management it's slowly turning into a decent bar - on a night when there's no open mic [cringey] the place makes a great pub for a few quiet ones - they seem to do something different to it all the time and to be fair it is getting better
I wouldn't bother with the food yet though - I tried the sausages out and they weren't great
whatever anyone says this pub it really is a great place to chill out any day of the week. the food is excellent(and they've just re-vamped the kitchen),the quiz is always good fun, and the music always nicely random. the best place to catch up with old friends and really feel at home.

This is one of the worst bars i've ever been in - lacklustre feel to it with indifferent staff and if you are interested in drinking beer that doesn't taste as though it's been mixed with washing up liquid forget it - even though i've been both on thursday, friday and saturday nights it never even gets mildly going in terms of having an atmosphere and as a 'quiet pub' it just doesn't have the right feel - with so many other and better options in islington i really wouldn't bother going out of your way for this place

Great pub with really chilled out atmosphere - however Tuesday night quiz was very poor/amateurish - didn't live up to expectations and not in keeping with the standard of the rest of the place

This is Highbury's best pub. Staff are great (particularly Stuart, the landlord, who seems to inhabit a slightly different planet but is a good laugh). Beer is well kept, food reasonably priced and varied (try the steak or the pie...hmmm!).
Varied atmosphere, depending on the occasion - try it on Friday night, when it's fun and boistrous without being too loud, or on Sunday lunchtime for a chilled coffee/lunch and some quiet folky music. Great stuff.

Quite a quiet pub which is odd cos it's really nice inside. 50/50 split of tables/chairs and comfy sofas. Bass and Speckled Hen on last time I was there and Red Stripe to. Friendly staff. Opposite Canonbury station on the Silverlink.

This is simply the best local in the world. music, food, quiz, sport, and ambiance my petals.

Loving the open mic on wednesdays. Always chilled atmosphere and barstaff. Can't disagree with Louisa about those sofas either!! oooooohhh yyeeeeaaahh!!!!!!

I have quite often found myself popping in for a quick drink on my way home, but once you sit down on those sofas with a mate and a bottle of wine - you're there for the duration. Great bar, good food, relaxing atmosphere!
