Called in for a supper before going to nearby theatre. Busier than expected at 6pm. Very pleasant staff. Doombar was good. Food was served quickly. Doombar and ale pie for me; salmon fishcakes for my wife. Piping hot and very tasty. Good value. We'll certainly call again when in Woking.

Fewer real ales than most Ember inns but still a reasonable selection and the usual Camra discount. Full Ember Inn menu available despite the place being deserted in the afternoon. A real country feeling to this place despite being only 5 minutes' walk from Woking town centre.

In a few words ....not great.avoid!

A large Ember Inn facing a vast green, just over the canal from Woking town center. Despite being just five minutes from the bustle of the Peacocks and Wolsey Place shopping centers, on a weekday lunchtime the pub was nearly empty and very quiet.
Despite the comments below, I found the pub clean and looking recently decorated. The tables looked as if there is quite an emphasis on food, with a variety of menus and food offers on each. No one was eating whilst I was there, but I would imagine that they would do a roaring trade on Sundays, with a two course roast dinner advertised for 8.95.
A tv was showing BBC News24 muted with subtitles and there was fairly unobtrusive background music.
Disappointingly, despite there being six handpumps, only Ringwood Best (2.95)was on. This was served via a swan neck and sparkler, resulting in a over frothy, pretty taste free pint. The barman's welcome was friendly though.

the pub looked a bit of a mess from out side but its lovely on the inside.the food was good ,the puddings evven better.staff all friendly and helpfull.busy on thursday night and even more so on friday night.

Uncared for, fence broken in back garden, cigarette ends everywhere, bin overflowing. Go inside to be greeted by dead plants that should have been thrown away weeks ago. Tables not cleared and cleaning clothes left around. Not nice at all. Oh yes, and they only have two large wine glasses! Come on Ember Inns, get your act together, the Sovereigns has rapidly gone down hill too.

Absolute dive. Such a shame, as the building itself has so much potential. Was served an awful pint by some kid masquerading as manager, happy to carry on his expletive-filled conversation while serving me! Didn't go near the food, looked like a microwave job from what I saw being served. Dirty plates everywhere, sticky bar, pretty much neglected all round. Doubt it'll be long before it gets closed down.

Pretty good given its just outside Woking.

i like it here good pub, nice enough people and good 4 eating a relief sometimes 2 be away from main town. its in horsell but not feels like woking.
|
Ok out of main town sometimes, dead quiet but i like that. ok ale.
|
Not the best pub in Horsell.

Feels like a carbon copy of the nearby Sovereigns, well it is an Ember Inn pub after all. I quite like these type of places.

these ember inn pubs i think are excellent, great food and excellent beer.. but the two in this town are lacking polite and helpful staff!!! and totally agree with the stacy comment.... what an idiot

when is stacey going to leave? After sitting in there have a few quiet brews a just heard this thing singing and what looked liked dancing?? some other person in there shouted at her to shut up. Thank god! The sooner all the staff go and get replaced the better. maybe the food and service may improve?? but otherwise Ok place. No garden. Don't know what it's like on a fri or sat night. Bit far out of town too.

completely lacking in atmosphere. Ok beer with a good range of house wine. No evidence of personality or sense of humour detectable in bar staff.

Ember Inn Pub, very similar to all the other Ember Inn's you well ever visit. Still the beer is always kept well, and the staff are always well trained, but there really is no Character to these places.
