please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
The previous reviews of this pub are somewhat outdated. This pub has recently undergone a refurb, it's fresh, on trend, staff are great and it has a new menu. The menu is delicious (and therefore difficult to choose from) and reasonable prices. The pub is usually busy and vibrant with a great mix of people. Highly recommended!

Reopened but just evenings at present. (I think).

Unfortunately this has always been a second rate pub and will continue to be as there are much better pubs to go within a few minutes walk (Warrington or The Clifton for example).
The landlord or Enterprise Inns should try and convert it to a Sainsburys local or other national small supermarket area. It would improve the area and the local community are crying out for it.
It is currently closed and hopefully the above is happening - good luck to the operators if they continue its current use...

Now (always?) "The Elgin BAR AND GRILL". Reports are currently most beers off, emphasis as regards drink being on wines/spirits/cocktails. House red was said to be quaffable.

Looks like it's been a while since anyone has commented here so I'd ignore all the reviews below! My friends and I went to The Elgin for their Prohibition Night and had a great time, live music, good food and to top it off the staff were really friendly too! Will definitely be back for more :0)

Great place, Has taken a good turn. Food is good and well priced, massive selection on the beer front and always playing good tunes when I go there. Love it!
|
Waiting for the Warrington to reopen - this place is a dive and lacking any soul and not helped by these awful cube seats.
|
Not like the "Old" Lord Elgin. Friday nights were a storm. Nothing quite like tripping out onto Elgin Avenue with a belly full!!
|
Have taken a good turn, the food has improved vastly, i think there's a new chef there and since the smoking ban is so much less smokey, used to be terrible, friendly staff too.
|
terrible terrible terrible. Overpriced, pretentious tosh
|
nicely done, but not my cup of tea.
|
Was hunting for property in the area, popped in for a cheek pint and laughed my head off at the pretence of the clientele and how ridiculous and uncomfertable some ppl looked when sitting on those cube type things, how the feck are you supposed to enjoy a pint sitting on that?
|
used to be really good now a byword in banality, they should just take the next step and turn it into a coffee shop. note of caution - they are really heavy with bog traffic. new owners look like they have just left boarding school.

Stunk of stale smoke. Ordered a half. Guy proceeds to pour a pint. Only want a half I say. He says okay and gives me what he's poured in the pint as my drink. I say that's not a half. He gives me "the look" and puts a further 5ml in. The music was loud and dreadful. Not what you want on a Sunday afternoon. Clientele is all professionals lounging around reading the broadsheets. I'm just getting fed up with these places.

Ive spent several hours in the Elgin over the last couple of years and I havent got a bad word to say about it, check it out and watch out for the Dj he rocks!

I've only been there a couple of times ;o), but it's easily the best place in Made of Ale. Coronation Street has the Rovers Return, Eastenders has the Queen Vic and Westenders has the Elgin. If this soap was televised, it would win awards!! :o)

Great fun, friendly (pretty) staff and a real cross section of v.intersting people! Best Maida Vale pub by far at the moment. Dangerously inticing after work!

funky decor, great food and good wine selection, plus a good atmosphere make this the best bar by far in Maida Vale, much cooler than the other 'tired' options in the area

Amazing bar - won 'new london bar' award. Incredible parties!! Good food and great wine selection. Landlady is a real 'star'

10 * better than the warrington. you get an interesting mix of west london egos propping up the bar and old gents sitting in the corner.

brilliant breakfasts, great atmosphere and nice (attractive) bar staff. Appalling bloody mary, other cocktails are reportedly bad too.
