Grove Park, Chiswickback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
Sitting outside on a sunny day is pleasant enough. This should be a great pub, but it's grim and has gotten a lot grimmer of late. This is what's wrong with it:
1) Everything is brown on brown on brown 2) The lighting is so murky and dim, it makes it even browner 3) No seats at the bar 4) No atmosphere 5) Miserable landlady 6) No real fun 7) Over priced drinks 8) Bad use of space - it's a hulk of a lounge
To make it better they need to address all the above and really move everything around - those low level sofas should be moved to the dining area. Cabaret nights and cocktail tables would be a better use of the main bar.

Any pub that can't pour a rum and coke into a glass shouldn't be charging 6 for a drink! Otherwise the Revamp is good. Not dared to try the food in five years.

I pop in from time to time but won't call in again. London Pride is now 3.40p a pint. But the real take on is the price they charge for a half. Not 1.70p but 1.80p. Apparently they top up the price of all the beers similarly if you only want a half. I must say the Pride is in good condition when I've had it but so it should be at that price.

This place is now called Station House and it is an expensive gastro pub with jazz every Sunday evening I wouldnt have guessed it is in Chiswick!
Its a big open plan pub with a dining type area at one end and an open fire surrounded with sofas at the other. There are a few high tables dotted about and there is plenty of covered and uncovered seating outside the front of the pub.
The barmaid on my visit was friendly, but my pint of Pride was very cloudy and over 3. Pride is the only ale, but also available are Leffe Blond, Staropramen, Stella, Becks Vier and Guinness. Being a gastro pub there is also food available, but I think a burger and chips was about 10.
I cant see myself ever going here again as it is in the middle of nowhere and pretty unremarkable.

Ignore the pre-2008 comments on this pub as it has had a total refurb. Looks good, solid wood floor, large and smart bar with fireplace and plenty of leather sofas. Nice atmosphere - good mix of people and lively without being crowded. One downside is it is not good on real ale although it does have London Pride available.
Right next to the station so a good place to start/end a pub crawl taking in pubs on the Chiswick to Kew stroll.

See that the last posting was way back in 2006....well, I went to this pub last night (for the first time in six years) and it as undergone a metamorphosis. All the old tat is gone along with the ultra-cheap europiss beers and it is now a very cool pub with Fuller's and Leffe on tap and a great redesign of the interior space (think long leather sofas, zinc tables, good lighting).
Thank god that someone has finally put this pub in order.
