The Colley Rowe was our second pub of the morning on Saturday and the second Wetherspoons. This one felt a little more cosy than the Eva Hart, if Wetherspoons can indeed be cosy. It was busier too, with a lively set of locals near the bar already well on their way! Ales were Fullers London Pride, Sharps Doom Bar, Ruddles Best, Arkells Kingsdown Special Ale, Weltons Broadwood & Banks's Feral Hop Hog. Ciders were Westons Old Rosie & Gwynt y Ddraig Black Dragon. Westons Country Perry was also available. I opted for the Perry, only to be told that CAMRA vouchers cannot be accepted for ciders and perries. This was clarified to mean that they could only be accepted for "guest ciders and perries or guest ales". Well if Westons Country Perry is not a "guest", I don't know what is. Yet another fail from Wetherspoons. Acceptance of CAMRA vouchers seems to be very hit and miss.

My local when I'm feeling tight and good when the beer choice is there. It's a wetherspooon and they are all much of a muchness. As the previous comment said a few colourfull charecters but I've been in far worse pubs.

This is my local and whilst the clientel have always been a bit colourful, the atmosphere has never been threatening in any way. Of a weekend there are a lot of families in and whislt this can get a bit noisy and annoying, that's all it is. The food is good value and is usually ok, although there is a tendency to run out of items and forget to mention it unless challenged. This is very much a lager pub and in the last year or so it has not been uncommon to walk in and have a choice of just one and this from a pub that the manager states should always have Abbot, Ruddles and 3 Guest beers on at all times. Absolute rubbish. I agree with the earlier post on 'coming soon' beers, that can sit there for months and then just vanish without ever arriving. Very poorly managed, but I would be lost without it.

Seems to have gone downhill since the smoking ban. Always very quiet in there (or was the last 4 or 5 times I've been). Same old drunks/thugs hanging around making lots of noise though - but as I said in my old review, we have never encountered any trouble and have only ever seen one fight/scuffle in the many years we've been going there on and off.
Food is still fine and value for money and while not exactly gourmet cuisine, is always cooked properly and tastes good.
Still a pretty good selection of real ales, although not as many on at any one time as there used to be. Always seems to be at least 3 or 4 of the pumps with a 'coming soon' label on them (coming soon was on one particular ale for at least 4 weeks - havent been back since to see if its still there!).
As my local I am still happy to go here for a few drinks with friends, but it is never going to be the greatest pub in the world - just avoid any run-ins with the regulars if you can!

over the past few months i have become a regular customer and i have to say about the change in atmosphere. obviously there have still been the odd arguement but what pub doesn't. i have also realised that the food is getting better and better.
i would definitly advise people to come to the colley.

This place just gets worse, trouble nearly every night !. Only a couple of weeks ago a barman was GBH'd. Drug dealers galore, there is a bloke I think his name is Chimp or something similar he was barred a couple of weeks ago but has returned, used to supply all the nicked gear but has now taken up a new trade as a heroin supplier. And the beer is real c**p. Avoid this pub like the plague !

This Pub started out as a relatively enjoyable place to drink in, in a town that lacked "decent" Pubs. But in the last two or three years it has started to attract some real angry obnoxious drunks who start fights amongst themselves at random, and i must add that the bar staff continue to serve these people even though they are incredibly mouthy and bolshy, even before the fights start off! This kind of behavior is completely unacceptable, this pub is aimed at familys after all! I would not have taken the time to write this had i not witnessed the above mentioned trouble myself, i only use this pub weekdays, God knows what it is like weekends!! Please sort this out Weatherspoons and the bar staff at this pub, as you are all embarassing yourselves!

For a pub bearing the Cask Marque plaque the traditional ale is exceptionally poor. Never mind on the run up to Christmas you will be able to buy a wide selection of stolen gear for Christmas, just ask for Chip he's always in there and will provide you with all the designer stuff straight from Debenhams. If you can't find him ask the management, they'll point you in the right direction. Also the kids are totally out of control !. For an enjoyable evening don't go to this pub ! ! !

If you dont mind its overweight foul mouthed drunken thug customers the beer is always good as is the food, go early and keep your head down, good luck.

Bitters OK, Food OK, Service poor, Wetherspoons good value for money but its some of the customers that let down this pub common as muck loads of swearing. Not a nice Pub to go to.

During the day, its not a bad place to be, and with it being a whetherspoons it has a good food menu. However during the evening. What a dive. Its full of drunken old men and poor excuses for women. On one visit, after an altercation in which the management didnt get involved, a guy returned to the pub with a knife. It took other customers to calm the situation down and send him on his way. Needless to say, I haven't been back since!

I think the pub is a complete dive. it was shut for 10 days for a refit, well a lick of paint and a few chairs. A pig wouldnt use the pubs toilets.
The worst Weatherspoons pub i have ever been in

Right lets get this pub right. The element in the pub can only be described as 'terrible'. The customers are loud drunk and abrasive, and the staff and managers allow this to happen. On allowing this to happen one night a customer was badly beaten up by a barred customer who was allowed back in. The managers seem to be afraid of the drunks that inhabit the bar area and refuse to do anything about them apart from continuing to serve them. I agree with previous posters in that if you want to give up buying fags, just walk in here because the smoke hits you as soon as you walk in through the doors. The pub was shut recently for a refurb, but the best thing to do would be to refurb the staff and managers and put someone in here that knows what they are doing.

This is a good and bad pub at the same time. its a wetherspoons so obviously prices are reasonable, and has a good selection of real ales, world lagers and also the more 'commercial' beers & spirits.
down side is that it can get extremely busy, and with the nearest pub (the white hart) being shut down recently it has made it a lot worse... one saturday it took about 20 minutes to get served which was extremely annoying for what i consider to be a quiet local.
other problem is some of the clientel arent very desirable characters, with the same old faces loitering around the tables nearest the bar, always drunk and extremely loud, but with it being a large pub its easy to avoid listening to them, and we have never encountered any trouble in there.
the best pub in the area for definite.

What a terrible place this is. Dark and dingy with plenty of nooks and crannies for the local yobs and drug dealers to hang out. If you want to stop buying cigarettes, then just step in here, and experience passive smoking at its best. I ended up with a lovely sore throat the next morning.
