Never been inside. Has a for sale sign outside which doesn't bode well.

Looks a bit run down, and unfortunately the real ale (Greene King IPA) was off. Made do with a pint of keg Ruddles Smooth (which I have never come across before, and will not actively seek out again). Very quiet in the early evening, but the staff were friendly enough. Obviously something of a music venue, and the Irish guy getting ready to play a set later on .

The landlord is friendly, the Stella's normally good but I agree with the "grim" comment below.

Typical town Boozer. Good Real Ale, Atmosphere and bands. Handy if you need to kill time because you've just missed your train (ooops).

"Lively area of town"?! It could only be considered lively because people have to walk thru this depressing area to get to the train station. Rather grim, is how I'd put it. But if you do find yourself in these parts go to Irish pub the Grafton just a few doors down instead.

Had a good evening last night for the Blue Cat Reggae Club. Pub is fine, not fancy, not posh, just a decent mixed crowd in a pretty lively area of town and not scary.

Recently refurbished and painted (and, by god, it needed it). Good selection of beer including a very good pint of Ruddles. Lots of music ranging from Indie to Northern Soul. How come everytime I go there someone comes in off the street and tries to sell me some knocked off gear?
