Smallish pub on a kind of terrace on a main road. Interior a bit fuax wine bar, exposed bricks etc but pleasant enough. Had three ales on - two vale brews and a porter. The Brill Gold and gravitas were both in decent form and went down well. Has a for sale sign outside so not sure how long it will still be around.

I did pop in here a few years back and enjoyed a surprisingly good pint in an empty pub but Vale Brewery’s new incarnation of this pub is something of a transformation. The brewery itself displays a fascinating range of its own wares alongside some great craft and cask offerings – most notably the excellent Stay Puft from Cwtch, once described as ‘chewy’ and a lovely IPA type brew from Beavertown. Vale’s own chocolate stout was also a knockout. The guy who runs it works tirelessly in cleaning, cooking and serving the beer.

In here last Saturday lunchtime and only one other punter present. 2 sides but a bit small inside. Large screen showing West Ham v West Brom. Kareoke on Fri & Sat night after 8.00 but not for much longer according to the guvnor as its not paying its way. (overheard) Also rooms available but not B&B just bed. 2 hand pulls but only Vale Best Bitter on @ £3.00 and very nice it was.
|
Despite what the previous punter says, not really a gay pub although it does attract clientele en route to Pink Punters down the road. Low key but a pint of Checkmate from the Brill brewery was absolutely superb. Not as good as the Red Lion but a likely contender for the second best pub in Fenny Stratford.
|
Now Proudly Flying The Rainbow Flag, so presumeably its now a Gay Bar. I suppose the Pink Pound is as good as anyones.
|
Nice small pub which is owned by local brewery 'Vale, so has some nice local ales on pump.

A lovey and cosy pub. Great prices! Friendsly atmospher. 5 rooms at 20 a night (PP) with 2 avalible with en suits. Each room has tea, coffee and television. All room in good clean condition! Down in pub there is dart board, biggest projector screen in fenny stratford. Very fun and nice bar staff and the owners John and Annie are LOVELY. VERY attractive pub with alot of character!!! There is a back yard for a smoking area. Regular activities. Comfy sofas and seating, great place to relax! The Chequres is in the best beer guide for 2011, and so deserve it! Very welcoming and friendly to everyone and HIGHLY RECOMENDED TO EVERYONE!!

In here on a Wednesday afternoon before going to MK Dons. Only one beer on Vale Wychert, they usually have another Vale beer. Quiet as you might expect, staff seemed helpful enough. Spent time watching Rachel Riley's legs on Countdown.
|
Real Ale served and is at a presentable standard. Not the most friendliest of places as I have visited a couple of times and the staff seem to be more interested in chatting to the regualars.
|
Since John & Annie have taken over the Chequers there's a lot more going on,great atmosphere,John and Annie are lovely, always happy and friendly, the only thing that lets this pub down is the barman,Adrian. He may be good at cleaning the place ,but he seriously lacks customer skills,I was a regular here, but I can't stand drinking in the chequers when Adrian is working so untill then i'm in some not so nice pubs but that have better customer skills. wishing John & Annie every success.

closed down until further notice

It's a simple little pub, that delivers what a simple little pub should, a good welcome, beer's OK but they could do with more Real Ale, The refit made it a bit nicer, less "dank" but then again, we like dank! It's a shame "Guinness" the dog isn't around anymore!

Re-opened, to early to comment

Just Closed down

I used to go in this pub regularly, as there is karaoke on every Friday night, run by DJ-master extraordinaire (sp?) Clive. Very small, like being in someone's lounge, but very friendly
