Willett Arms, Oakleyback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
Pub was quite cold as a previous poster had mentioned, despite a fire going and being sat quite close to it. Also on a busy day through the Christmas period, only seemed to have one member of staff behind the bar, as well as one girl serving in the restaurant. The choice of beer was a bit limited, with only 6X and Ringwood Best on. Not bad, but not too good either so will give it a 5.

This pub is always freezing cold, lacks atmosphere and staff. I spend more time at the bar waiting than I do drinking, even though there is seldom more than a dozen people in here.
|
A decent pub, with a varied food menu at reasonable prices. Beer is well kept and the standard is Ringwood Best, but there is always some sort of interesting / seasonal guest beer on too. A big car park if you are coming by road and the Willett is just on the number 3 bus route from Poole into Wimborne if you are travelling by public transport. A big garden at the rear. There is an area more specifically for dining though meals can of course be taken anywhere in the bar. As a result of its close proximity to the local crematorium the pub is popular for wakes, for which the dining area is well suited.

first time visit for me,great pint of timothy taylor, the food was very good, service needs fine tuning, but an overall good visit.

A damn good pub, with a wide range of beers, albeit mostly foreign. The Willett Arms has gone up in the world since being a Brewer's Fayre and is sort of like a gastropub. The menu is varied and the service is generally good: nice friendly staff at the bar and in the restaurant. We visit about once a month now and I have yet to leave disappointed: after the Olive Branch this is my favourite Pub in WImborne: the food is probably better here, but the beer is better in the Olive Branch. Certainly worth avoiding the Stocks and Horns to get to.

I ate at the Willett arms on the 21st of January 2008, I was pleasently surprised. I came when it was a brewers and it was terrible the service the quality of food etc...However on this vist it was the opposite, the food was great, a excelllent menu, the service was very attentive and the atmosphere was relaxing.I am local to the are and I will be returning.

Went there last night. Absolutley awful. What was a bright and cheerful place to eat and spend an evening is now so dull and lacking atmosphere. The menu selection is very limited in comparison to what it used to be and the steaks we had were inedible.

Dixon is missing the point - this business does not want to attract passing families from the cycle path for meals, and it is all the better for it. This is now a nice place to dine with good quality food in a pleasant atmosphere. Yes, the prices are a little higher - but you get what you pay for. It is a big, big improvement. Excellent beer as well - the Timothy Tailors was superb.

My partner and I had lunch here the other day and were pleasantly surprised. The food was very good, we had a snack, and were very impressed with content and service. The staff are polite and helpful and take time to ask if your needs are being catered for. It is a little pricey but you get what you pay for and one cannot object to that. Ambience excellent.

Lets get one thing straight, when this was a Brewers Fayre, you knew what to expect. simple, standard, Child friendly pub/dining.
This place now is simply DREADFUL, the decoration is VERY dull, from the outside to the inside, its draped in a shade of 'camo' green. The menu is very expensive, to the point where we decided not to dine. A Burger and Chips is about the most 'normal' dish on the menu(i mean the dishes which customers will be used to) and it costs 10! There is no Child menu and the inside of the pub is very dark and opressive. Im not really sure what they were thinking, as it seems unlikeley they will capture the trade from all the families who cycle or walk along the Broadstone cycle path in the summer. The drinks are reasonable, I think a round (2 beers and 2 cokes) was just under 8.
BUT. the prize for madness goes to.... a packet of crisps... which cost a stagering 90 pence!

Since new managers took over the place has gone from strength to strength. Food is better, atmosphere is better and the staff are excellent. This new couple have done a great job

A place to go if you want good reasonably priced food.Atmosphere is relaxed with no rowdies.
