I believe that the pub is now open all day, though food is at lunchtimes and evenings. St Austell beers were on tap and all were good and well kept. Food was good too though best to book as there's a lot of evening trade. Accommodation is good though parking can be an issue. Staff were very courteous and friendly.
Will definitely visit again. Recommended.

It is not easy to get across to this pub if you are on the Bigbury-side of the river on high tide water level. The ferry connection is very poor; 10-11, and 15-16. So when arriving at the ferry quay 12.30 we were in trouble. And the ferryman did not show any interest in doing an extra trip. We finally reached the pub at 15.10, and it had just closed.(Food served until 14.30, closing time 15.00) It's a shame the connections are so bad. I am sure It would benefit the business on the Bantham side if more regular connections, as there are loads of tourists staying in the Bigbury-area.

crikey folks.....an up-date needed here. fantastic food here now.....the freshest, crispiest salads and the tastiest veg you could wish for. Ales - excellent, and even better value if you catch a special barrel....at reduced prices. bedrooms could be better...... however, for food n drink, this place is worth keeping to oneself....so i've just blown it then!

Must have changed hands in the past year.Prices have jumped up ,choice and quality gone down.Service often sadly lacking, bar staff not a happy bunch and dont notice you.Such a shame was always excellent before.

it's in a great spot and the food is quite good but a bit of a miserable landlord and not very accomodating to their guests - breakfast is 9-9.30 and checkout at 10!! ask if they have had the extractor fan outside the pub rooms fixed, it rattled away from 7am to midnight. the rooms are pretty basic too.

Used this pub a couple of weekends ago (March 2004). Food was very good, staff friendly and accomodating. I should think it could get very crowded in season. Well worth a visit.

The only pub in Bantham so a welcome stop for refreshment on a coastal walk. However experience was a bit disappointing as the food was very average although it could have just been my ploughmans... The 'Garden' is a small patch of concrete between the back of the pub and the self-catering cottages.
Real ales are available but some barstaff consistently serve very short pints, even when prompted to top them up. The (believed) local cider was very good though.
