Been in there recently, definitely a few older Irish knockin about, a firmly working class pub with good service. Was quite busy, yet I was served easily each time. Cheap as chips (well under £4 a pint), and I get the feeling the regulars sitting up at the bar would warm to you after a visits. Definitely no looks over the shoulder or any of that.

Cherish these kind of places while they still exist.

Racist pub that hates new faces!

the opposite of pretentious. lovely geriatric clientele. if you like shuffleboard and backgammon, this is the place for you.

Love this place. When I first went here the barmaid produced a big ole spread of sandwiches for everyone and the few of us that went in were chatting with the regulars - very friendly and real. And they show the football. There is a pool table too and a fun jukebox thats got 'everybody wants to love my fanny' song which is very amusing. any regulars know which song i am talking about?

Local irish working man's pub, not bad place but you're not going to impress anyone in here.

I LOVE this pub. A proper Irish local 'old man's' pub. I much prefer it to the Birdcage opposite. This is the sort of place that hands round platters of free sarnies on a Sunday lunchtime while the football is on. 'Winner Stays On' pool table. A very mixed crowd of Stoke Newington trendies and old gents and ladies who've lived in Hackney all their lives. A treasure.

Friendly, small, pool table. Very much a local pub, overshadowed by the Bird Cage.
