called in again for one of their growlers, but they no longer do them, and worse still they would not fill my plastic beer flagon. Something unlikely sounding to do with health and safety. I am sure it is a really nice pub and would have liked to stay for a pint.

I called in buy four pints of take out beer, so tried a couple. Tried the best bitter which was poor, then tried the next pump along which was good so I had that. They seem to be used to selling beer to take away, but have their own system which was broken down (whatever it was) so served me from the pump i.e. how you serve a pint, and how take out beer is usually served. They do their own take out containers which they call 'growlers'. 5/10

Not noticed this brew pub before so tried it out, looked quite busy for a Wednesday evening, food in one area. 4 ot their own brews, wensum 3.8, cork cutters 4.3, grocers ghost 4.2 and tombland porter4.8. Only tried the wensum, very disappointing beer, insipid no body, poor taste and not pleasant after taste.
Nice atmosphere and surroundings, all female staff who were not too clued up on what was available.
Shame about the beer, but perhaps it is early days?

Our next stop was the St Andrews Brewhouse. This was a good find. It has its own working brewery and was dispensing St Andrews Stout, Tombland Coffee Porter, Wensum Ale & Santa's Beer-d, alongside a guest - Grain ThreeOneSix. They have a good selection of craft beers in the fridges. Three real ciders from Westons were also on - Old Rosie, Rosie's Pig & Family Reserve. A function appeared to be going on upstairs, whilst the ground floor was busy. Not too happy about one of our drinks being poured from a pint glass that had clearly been standing there for a while though.

Great to find a brewpub in the heart of Norwich. 3 of their own beers on including a porter. Good food as well.

I hadn't spotted that this place was listed on BITE so hence a late review from July this year.

3 handpulls selling their own brews (10% discount on these for CAMRA members) - I tried a half of Wensum Ale following a heavy night the night before. In addition, there were 7 or 8 keg "craft" beers and dozens of cans of other craft beers.

Through a perspex wall, you can watch when the brewer is at work (which he was when we were there).

The place has a distressed, industrial feel and was very popular with all walks of life hence it took a little while to get served but probably no longer than many a city bar.

If it weren't for the dozens of other pubs that I still have yet to try in Norwich (and the fact that I have only ever been to Norwich once in my life so I probably won't be back there soon), I would visit again.

An excellent bar/pub/restaurant, with a good range of beers & great food!
I had a brilliant afternoon here last Saturday with a friend, & the atmosphere was just right!
