What's gone wrong.called in again after a previous visit about 6 months ago where I had a lovely evening chatting and having a few beers with a lovely couple behind the bar. This time I was greeted by a barman that looked more at home on a building site and 2 dogs roaming around the bar.It was a Sunday lunchtime and there was a lovely spread of assorted pics and food on a table if you didn't mind sharing with the dogs. From what I could make out the unkempt person behind the bar was infact the owner. The bar area and surroundings looked as though they hadn't been cleaned for a while although the log fire was a nice touch. What with some pretty choice language from customers at the bar this is not the place to bring your wife for a cosy drink which is probably why at most there were only half a dozen or so in the place. On reflection what I thought might be my local on my first visit unfortunately on my second it won't

Times must of changed as I can not believe we are talking about the same pub. We walked in to be greeted by a very friendly barmaid. It is clean, warm and cosy. Log fire, christmas ferns and twinkling lights. A nice welcome from the cold outside. I found all the locals to be friendly. I will definately be coming back again.

Horrible pub full (well a small crowd) of horrible people, surprised it makes money. Must be something dodgy going on behind the scenes. 'Controlled' by a gang of drunk foul mouthed violent yobs who think they are it but are seriously deluded! Very unwelcoming to strangers, we thought we better drink up quick or we were gonna get our heads kicked in. Barman (heard he was the owner) a miserable sod, looked off his head on something. Beer was crap. Sounded like some bloke was snorting charlie in the bogs. AVOID!

What an awful, awful pub, I think that this is the worst pub in Uxbridge. It is full, well, has a few people inside, that are rather unpleasent.

Awful pub, awful beer, awful landlord, awful bunch of scum youths as customers. Full of druggies, have seen illegal bets taken by the landlord over the bar. He himself is usually high as a kite or drunk on cider, surprised he can stand up half the time! Surprised the pub is still in business to be honest, but I doubt it will be much longer thank god as I hear old Jack is in a bit of financial trouble. Not surprised really as he probably drinks and gambles the profits away.
Shame really, the pub has potential to be a nice little local but I think it's chances of ever redeeming itself are now doomed and it has as much chance of becoming a pleasant drinking hole and a business success as the landlord has in giving up cider. I'd say odds off 1m to 1 and I wager that the landlord would take my money for a bet on that too, gambling licence aside LOL!

I lived within yards of one of the most unwelcoming pubs ever.
Every few years I try it again and find NO CHANGE! Service abysmal. It is better to go to the Load of Hay 50m away

having lived in uxbridge previously and visited this pub i find it to be friendly and welocoming, when traving to visit my old haunts with my husband or friends we frequently visit we are always remembered by the staff and landlady who still make us feel like part of thier community, i would recommend this pub if you want a drink in good spirits.

Have to agree with Jeremy, warm Lager and cold staffmade this an embaressing visit. It's not as if I look like a student (it's just round the corner from Brunel Uni) I am 35. On a quiet wednesday it took me nearly 10 mins to get served, bar staff did everything possible to avoid serving me, clean glasses, empty ashtrays, refill washer, go and find some more crisps for the barmans girlfriend. etc. etc.

One of the most unwelcoming pubs I have ever been in. I called in after work one summer evening for a couple of drinks on my way home. The bar staff were rude and seemed more interested in chatting to their mates than serving paying punters. I was prepared to give them the benefit of the doubt but on my second visit (with a few friends) we were eyed suspicially and made to fell awkward. If they dont want normal people in their 'local' pub, they should advertise this on the door. Poor beer, poor service, poor music and very poor clientele. I shall never set foot in this pub again and as soon as it closes down and becomes a house/residence, the better for all and certainly for Elthorne Road and Villiers Street residents. 0/10 is too high of a score but I couldn't give it any lower!!...

The outside of this fine old Greene King ale house was used as the local pub in the TV soap Family Affairs untill they built their own set to match it. Excellent IPA & Abbot Ale. Accustic/Country/Folk music on Sunday evenings. Pete "shed" Coulshed returns 5/10, following a 6 months break for health reasons. Please don't offer him any alcohol, as we need him back as the formidable guitarist/vocalist & front man of STOLEN. We will be back on the road in Jan 04. Drums/sound & lighting, John.
