Right next to the station - you can literally leave the pub five minutes before your train goes and still catch it OK! Vast range of ales but the best thing is the service: while one person's pouring your drinks three more will ask if you're being served! The only really odd thing about this pub is that from the front entrance you go through a small lounge with comfy seats before you get to the main part.

After having had a heavy session in the Blue Boar (a really good Leicester pub not yet listed on here), I found myself once again in an inebriated state in this Steamin' Billy pub next to Leicester station. Ales this time were Steamin' Billy 1485 & Billy, Brains The Rev James, Butcombe Rare Breed & Charnwood Black Hen. One day I'll try visiting here sober!

Worthy addition to Leicester's ale scene though you wouldn't think so from the entrance which is more like that to a snack bar or baker's shop. Opens out to a proper pub proportions inside. Decent selection of ales on and very handy for the station.

This was our last stop of our Leicester crawl. Armed with a kebab, I remember seeing the Steamin' Billy sign and heading in for one last swift half. Steamin' Billy Bitter, Tipsy Fisherman & Vardy's Volley, as well as Belvoir Dark Horse were the ales. I don't remember too much more about it, apart from it feeling quite large, dark and fairly plush. I'll have to try this again when more sober.

Pleasant staff when I visited recently. Tap for Steamin Billy brewery. Very nice beer had their house bitter. Some craft on as well as cask. 7/10

Bit of a strange place this. Like a cross between the Tardis and a chameleon ! The entrance is what looks like a small shop immediately after you turn out of Leicester station heading for the city centre. Going instead you enter a small room furnished like a plush hotel. It’s not until you turn the corner and go down some steps, that you see the place open up into a huge room that stretches back a long way ! It’s furnished a bit like a junk shop with all sorts of paraphernalia around – I remember a garden spade, a chandelier and an old washboard. The bar is to the right, with all sorts of chalk boards proclaiming various attractions. You can sit at high stools at the bar, in booths down the left hand side, or normal tables to the rear, but the centre of the room is a large open space.

This establishment is owned by the Steamin Billy brewery, and the 5 real ales on tap include a couple of theirs. I tried the Bitter which was reasonable, if nothing special. There were also a fair few “craft keg” beers on tap. Food was definitely available because I saw a Specials board, but I couldn’t see a normal menu anywhere !

7/10 – a quirky establishment, definitely worth another visit.
