Lovely little micropub, with great ales changing all the time. Great atmosphere, great service, well worth a visit or 2 or 3 .....

This is a small but quaint pub that stands out from the others in the vicinity and offers a warm welcome along with a good selection of ales and other refreshments.

It has certainly become my personal favourite over the past 6 months and it is exactly what the area has needed and continues to grow in popularity.

Perfectly compact traditional local pub.
Friendly atmosphere that makes everyone feel comfortable, including a couple of females together meeting after work ( which often isn't the case)
Homely decor and great selection of beers and ciders.as a cider drinker it's great to always have a guest drink.
A previous reviewer mentioned that the beers has run out. I doubt this but but if it is because the beers are managed/ left to settle well and the pub is a victim of it own success and must have been exceedingly busy.
The landlady and landlord welcoming , polite, sociable and constantly checking and clearing tables that I frequently happens in most pubs.
Nice selection of snacks including the most amazing homemade pork pies with pickles , but be warmed unless you greedy / very hungry you struggle to finish it.
There are several pubs within a short difference but this is definitely worth a visit. I'd certainly become a regular if I had the time .

You can always be assured of a warm & friendly welcome from the landlords & customers at this unique micro pub. Not a beer drinker myself but the selection of guest ciders is stunning. I Highly recommend this pub for a visit or three. It would a shame to walk past this pub X

Now taken over by Muirhouse Brewery from Ilkeston, and I have to say its not as good as it was. Only one of the 4 beers on tap was a Muirhouse one. It was called Kray Twin, and was yet another instantly forgettable golden ale. [ One of the other beers was a mild, though within 5 mins of me arriving, 23 of the three beers had gone off ] Seems to be a little shabbier than before. Now sells bar snacks such as pork pies and baps.

5/10 – needs to get its act together or I will start going elsewhere

I seem to have forgotten to review this place ! Anyway, this is a micro-pub selling Wentwell's range of beers. Is much better when the place isn't crowded out !

What this tiny ale house lacks in comfort is certainly made up for by the beer quality, convivial atmosphere and an entertaining line in banter between barman and customers. Encounters with a prominent book shelf and the stool directly under it are unlikely to help with your hangover the following morning, but the realistically set prices shouldn't make you wince either.
Bit of a step out of the town, but definitely worth it.

This is the second micro-pub in Derby, the first being the Little Chester Ale House. Both are owned by the locally based Wentwell Brewery. Both were formerly shops, the Last Post having once been a Post Office. As would be expected, Wentwell brews are to the fore, and when I visited in October last year, their Derby Pale Ale (3.8% ABV) at £2.60 a pint was very drinkable.

That said, the Last Post seems to be even more spartan than their Chester Green outlet. OK, I may be old fashioned, but I prefer drinking in surroundings that offer a little more comfort and personal space. With Mr Grundy's only 150 yards or so along Ashbourne Road and the Greyhound, a similar distance in the opposite direction, I won't be hurrying back to the Last Post.
